As part of IEEE VIS’s ongoing unification effort <http://ieeevis.org/year/2020/blog/things-are-changing-2021>, starting in 2021 some of the positions on both the VIS Executive Committee (VEC) and VIS Steering Committee (VSC) will be directly elected by the VIS community. These elections give the community a voice in governance, they allow members to grow into positions of authority, and they hopefully will ensure a diverse representation across all of VIS. Eligible members of the VIS community can register to vote in this year's election and nominate candidates for positions on the VEC or VSC. Multiple nominations and self-nominations are permitted. Anyone who has participated in the VIS conference in some capacity in three out of the five most recent years is eligible, and this includes intention to participate in 2021. See registration form for full eligibility criteria. We encourage all eligible community members to: - *Register to vote* in this year’s election by completing the VIS voter registration form <https://forms.gle/vbgrj81deXboumLo6>. (Voter registration closes September 10th.) - *Suggest members of the community* who would represent us well by using the VIS candidate nomination form <https://forms.gle/DLMv1J3QBiyzVbhZ6>. (*Nominations close July 1st.*) Voting will take place virtually between September 17th and October 17th, with results announced at IEEE VIS 2021. Thank you!
