
A full time postdoctoral position in Data Visualization area is available in The National Science & Technology Institute for Digital Democracy (INCT.DD) at the Federal University of Bahia, in Salvador, Brazil. We are looking for outstanding candidates holding a PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or related fields with a strong Computer Science/Engineering background. Excellent knowledge in the research areas of Information Visualization and Visual Analytics is a strong advantage. Duties will involve: · Research, develop and implement visualization methods to support analysis of social media data (temporal, numerical, categorical, text, networks…) · Writing for highly ranked journals and top tier conferences · Possibly co-advising undergraduate and graduate students Ideal start date is early March 2018. The initial appointment is for one year, with a monthly rate of BRL 4,100 (no taxes). An 18 months extension of the initial appointment is possible based on the progress in research. INCT.DD The National Science & Technology Institute for Digital Democracy (INCT.DD) is a network of laboratories and research groups involving 20 Brazilian institutions and 23 international research centers, which is the national reference center in the areas of digital democracy, e-government and online politics. The INCT.DD integrates a program of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication, funded for 6 years to act in scientific research, transfer of knowledge to the sector for society and the private sector, training of human resources and internationalization. The available postdoctoral position will be exercised in the framework of a cooperation between INCT.DD and professors of Department of Computer Science (DCC) at the Federal University of Bahia. The Department of Computer Science at UFBA is a young and growing faculty that has already acquired an impressive international visibility in many computer science disciplines, and offers great opportunities to grow and collaborate with top scientists.
