CALL FOR PAPERS JAMIA, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association is accepting submissions for a focus issue on Visualization of Health Data for Lay Audiences until Jan 22, 2023. See details at: https://academic.oup.com/jamia/pages/cfp-visualization-health-data Topics of Interest This focus issue welcomes original research and applications papers, perspectives, brief communications, case reports, and review articles addressing a range of topics associated with this area including, but not limited to, the following areas: * Methods utilized throughout the human-centered design life-cycle, including: visualization needs assessment, study design, formative evaluation, summative evaluation, implementation, post-deployment monitoring methods * Measurement and evaluation of the impact of visualizations, including experimental comparisons of methodological approaches and visualization formats (e.g., chart types, static vs. interactive) * Methods, applications, or perspectives that recruit and engage end users who represent diverse groups around the globe * Review articles including scoping and systematic reviews as well as concise tutorials related to visualizations for lay audiences * Validated techniques for processing and presenting big data (e.g., passive sensor data, electronic health record data, and population health data) to lay audiences * Reports highlighting how the needs of lay audiences are different from those of professionals with respect to methods for capturing feedback and the visualizations themselves * Ontologies and taxonomies to serve purposes such as defining human-centered design terminology and establish consistency in the language utilized across disciplines * Original research highlighting the application of design principles to health topics or reporting on the implementation of visualizations * Perspective articles setting research agendas and priorities Contributions including co-authorship with lay audience members are encouraged.
