The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Artificial Intelligence and Visualization. The postdoctoral researcher will join the Vis Lab and conduct research at the intersection of AI/ML and visualization, with an emphasis on developing intelligent methods to support the visual analysis, interpretation, and understanding of complex data. The position is supported by existing funding that runs through June 30, 2027, and the appointment is for one year, with a possible extension contingent on other funding and performance. The start date is flexible but must be no later than July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will work on problems related to AI-assisted, ML-driven, or foundation model-enabled visualization, visual analytics, and human-centered AI. The exact research direction will be shaped jointly based on the postdoc’s interests and expertise. Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field completed by the start date, along with a strong research record or demonstrated potential in AI/ML, visualization, or related areas. Experience publishing in leading venues such as VIS, CHI, SIGGRAPH, or CVPR is desirable. Strong research skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are expected.
