Postdoctoral Opening in Information Visualization/Visual Analytics, University of Washington The Department of Human Centered Design and Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to perform advanced research and development in the areas of information visualization and visual analytics. The long-term goal is to develop a better understanding of the use of visual interfaces in analyzing and exploring large, dynamic text-based data sets and networks. This work will involve developing new algorithms to visualize networks and text. Modeling of the visual interface and the nature of human-computer interaction over large data sets may also be involved. The work will be performed as part of an interdisciplinary team of students and faculty with expertise in a wide range of domains including computer science, social science, biology, physics, and other sciences. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their research skills in all aspects from conceptualization to publication and presentation. HCDE offers a vibrant multidisciplinary research environment with links to multiple departments within UW and research labs and companies in the Seattle area and around the world. NOTE: This is a full-time, one-year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension to an additional year or two, depending on performance and availability of funding.
