=== CALL FOR PAPERS === AVI 2018 Workshop on Visual Interfaces for Big Data Environments in Industrial Applications Date and Location: 29 May 2018 in Resort Riva del Sole, Castiglione della Pescaia, (Italy) Website: http://visbia.mediadesign-tud.de/ <http://visbia.mediadesign-tud.de/> Industrial applications can benefit considerably from the overwhelming amount of still growing resources such as websites, images, texts, and videos that the internet offers today. In order to leverage this potential, these applications need to address the Big Data Problem, which not only consists of the handling of this immense volume of data. Data needs to be processed, cleaned, and presented in a user-friendly, intuitive, and interactive way. This workshop targets Visual Big Data Interfaces in industrial contexts such as e-commerce, e-learning and business intelligence. It addresses interfaces for three different user groups: data scientists, data workers and end users. Based on these three user groups and the described issues, the workshop is intended to provide a forum for discussing research questions and solutions in industrial applications. === IMPORTANT DATES === March 25th, 2018: Workshop submission deadline April 25th, 2018: Acceptance notifications sent out by e-mail May 16th, 2018: Camera-ready submissions of accepted papers May 29th, 2018: Workshop at AVI 2018 in Castiglione della Pescaia === WORKSHOP TOPICS === Based on these three user groups, the workshop is intended to provide a forum for discussing research questions and solutions in industrial applications. Contributions should address one ore more of the following topics: * Visual Interfaces for Big Data Landscapes * Visual Search Interfaces * Visualization Tools for enabling Human-in-the-loop Processes * Interactive Processes for Data Integration and Cleansing * Visual and Interactive Support in Big Data and Recommender Systems * Best Practices for Representing Heterogeneous Data Sources * Integration of Implicit and Explicit User Feedback * Industrial Use Cases in the Mentioned Fields === SUBMISSIONS === We invite position papers between 4 and 6 pages in length. All submissions must be formatted according to the ACM SIG format available at: https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template <https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template>. Papers are to be submitted online on EasyChair (Link will be published on the workshop website). All papers accepted for presentation at the workshop will be submitted to the CEUR Workshop Proceedings platform. All papers should contain full author names and affiliations. If applicable, a link to a short video (up to 5 min. in length) may also be submitted. The papers will be juried by the organizers and selected external reviewers and will be chosen according to relevance, quality, and likelihood that they will stimulate and contribute to the discussion. At least one author of each accpeted paper needs to register for the conference (even if only for the workshop).
