Final CfP IEEE BDVA 2015 Special Session on "Immersive Analytics"
Apologies for cross-posting *IEEE BDVA - Big Data Visual Analytic**s 2015* 22-25 September 2015, Hobart, Australia *Call for Papers "Special Session on Immersive Analytics"* Accepted papers will be published as part of the IEEE BDVA proceedings. High quality papers might be selected for a journal publication. *Submission deadline* - June 30 *Notification* - July 10 During IEEE BDVA 2015 a special session on Immersive Analytics will be hold. Immersive Analytics is an emerging research thrust which investigates how new interaction and display technologies can be used to support analytical reasoning and decision making. The aim is to provide multi-sensory interfaces for analytics approaches that support collaboration and allow users to immerse themselves in their data and designs. Immersive Analytics builds on technologies such as large touch surfaces, immersive virtual and augmented reality environments, and sensor devices. For this special session, we aim to bring together researchers working on all aspects of Immersive Analytics to discuss research directions and challenges, and to present the current state of the art. Topics of interest include the whole range of topics touched by Immersive Analytics research, including * development and evaluation of innovative interfaces and devices, * development and evaluation of interaction metaphors * development and evaluation of visualizations adapted to the new environments * systematic assessment of analytic workflows in application areas to investigate the potential of immersive analytics approaches for both * research and commercial applications challenges from application areas, e.g. life sciences, business intelligence, logistics, information security, software engineering, that highlight the shortcomings of classical mouse and keyboard approaches Both researchers working on Immersive Analytics and practitioners from potential application areas are welcome to submit a paper for the special session. Due to the emerging nature of Immersive Analytics, both papers that describe original research, including research in progress, and position papers are welcome. *Submission* (see also the submission page on www.bdva.net) Authors should submit manuscripts via Easychair that are neither submitted for publication or under review elsewhere. The page limit is 8 pages, depending on the nature of the paper and the state of the research papers can be shorter, but should have at least 4 pages in the IEEE manuscript format . Accepted papers will be published as part of the BDVA proceedings. High quality papers might be selected for a journal publication. *Submission deadline* - June 30 *Notification* - July 10 For more details on the special session please contact technical programme chair Karsten Klein (karsten.klein@monash.edu)
