Permanent Lectureship/Readership (Assistant/Associate Prof) in Data Visualization at the VisHub group (http://visualinteractivedata.github.io), School of Informatics University of Edinburgh. Closing date: 12th January 2021 The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary environment at the University of Edinburgh, spanning the School of Informatics, the new Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) (https://efi.ed.ac.uk/ <https://efi.ed.ac.uk/>), the Centre for Design Informatics (https://www.designinformatics.org <https://www.designinformatics.org/>), and the VisHub / Visual+Interactive Data group (http://visualinteractivedata.github.io <http://visualinteractivedata.github.io/>). The position aims to build new cross-disciplinary bridges between these areas and shape a range of current efforts in data visualisation across the University of Edinburgh and beyond. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a portfolio of high quality externally-funded research, working collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines and with a range of external partners (from communities, industry and government). They will be expected to publish high quality research regularly, and to undertake research that has societal impact, while contributing to the interdisciplinary research environment of EFI. The position will contribute substantially to the development and delivery of interdisciplinary visualisation courses within new MSc programmes in EFI and will offer supervision within the School of Informatics. The EFI programmes will be developed to an innovative model which includes on-campus and online delivery, interdisciplinary connections and a project-based design. The post holder will expand and build on an existing portfolio of teaching resources in the area of visualisation at the University. Teaching will start in the academic year 2021/22, with time and support before that dedicated to course design and development.
