Post-doctorate Research Position in Information Visualization Post-doctorate Research Position in Groupware/Ubiquitous Computing University of Calgary Alberta, Canada Professors Saul Greenberg and Sheelagh Carpendale are seeking two bright and energetic post-docs to work on research in: * *information visualization* (under the supervision of Carpendale) AND * *groupware and ubiquitous / domestic computing* (under the supervision of Greenberg) The candidates will primarily work with their immediate supervisor, but will have good opportunities to interact with other faculty members and students. The candidates will also have opportunities to propose collaborative projects of their own related to the research area. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record that demonstrates high quality independent research in either information visualization or groupware/ubicomp. Candidates should be willing to commit to a two year post-doc. The positions will be located in the Interactions Laboratory, a rich community of students, researchers and faculty that specialize in many aspects of Human Computer Interaction and Information Visualization. Calgary is 45 minutes by car from the Canadian Rockies, a spectacular part of the world. These positions are made available through their recent award of an iCORE Industrial Chair, sponsored by iCORE and Smart Technologies, Inc. *To apply* Please send a resume and a description of your research interests to Robin Arseneault: rarsenea@cpsc.ucalgary.ca If you will be attending CHI, please let Robin know by email as we may schedule an interview there. Sheelagh Carpendale's web site is http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~sheelagh/ <http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/%7Esheelagh/> Her group's research is at: http://innovis.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/ Saul Greenberg's web site is http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~saul/ <http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/%7Esaul/> His group's research is at http://grouplab.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/

Apologies for cross-postings. Please send to interested colleagues and students. ---------------------------------- NEW: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 13 2007! ---------------------------------- ========================================= CALL FOR PAPERS 2nd Visual Information Expert Workshop - VIEW2007 Hungary, December 3-4, 2007 http://www.view2007.eu Technical sponsor: IEEE EMBS Papers of the conference will be published by Springer (LNCS) Invited Speaker: Alfred Inselberg, Tel Aviv University, Israel. ========================================= VIEW 2007 is the second edition of a successful workshop that brought together researchers from all around the world working on the "pixelization paradigm". Pixelization methods associate an information entity with a single pixel so that a set of information entities can be translated to an image. Pixelization has proven to be an effective yet underutilized visualization method and thus needs deep investigation to exploit its potential. GOALS ===== The first Visual Information Expert Workshop explored the basis of a pixelization paradigm. This year we will address these and other issues in visualization. Specifically, the workshop is open to pixelization paradigm and all other 2D Information Visualization methods. TOPICS ====== The workshop encourages submissions on all topics related to pixelization and non-pixelization 2D visualization methods, including (but not limited to) the following: * Mathematics, Discrete Geometry and Statistics * Information sciences: Computer sciences, Data mining, Web sciences, Networks * Physics * Medicine and biology (genomic, proteomic...) * Economics, Management * Psychology, Neuro-Cognitive sciences, Sociology * Engineering * Geography, Demography IMPORTANT DATES =============== * Papers: July 13, 2007 (NEW!) * Notifications: August 17, 2007. * Camera ready copy: September 5, 2007. PAPER SUBMISSION ================ The workshop language is English, both for papers and presentations. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that are not being considered for publication in any other place. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically, through the conference website, formatted using the Springer templates available on the conference website. Papers cannot exceed 15 pages in length and will be published in a book edited by Springer (LNCS).
