Dear all,

The Visualization and Computer Graphics Technical Committee (VGTC) is electing its new chair and you are invited to cast your vote. The election period will begin on April 15, 2015 and will remain open for 15 days until April 30. The new Chair's term will run from May 1, 2015 through April 30, 2017.

The main elections page at

http://vgtc.org/content/vgtc-2015-chair-elections will link to the voting once the elections open, and contains all of the information below.

Following a 3-month community-wide solicitation period the VGTC chair nomination committee composed of the VGTC directors, after careful deliberation, nominated the following two candidates to serve as the next VGTC chair:

Mark Livingston (please see bio and statement at

http://vgtc.org/content/vgtc-chair-candidate-mark-livingston)

Claudio Silva (please see bio and statement at

http://vgtc.org/content/vgtc-chair-candidate-cl%C3%A1udio-silva)

Please note that in order to vote in the VGTC elections, you must be a member of the IEEE Computer Society and the VGTC. Since the IEEE has only this year eliminated its recurrent practice of asking for annual renewal of VGTC membership, you are strongly encouraged to explicitly check your VGTC membership to ensure that you are properly enrolled before April 15, when the election will begin. All enrolled members will receive an email on specific information on how to vote.

To check your membership, please log in at https://www.ieee.org/profile/membershipandsubscription/showMembershipsAndSubscriptions.html

and see if you have the following two items listed under Memberships and marked as active: "IEEE Computer Society Membership" and "Visualization and Graphics, IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on"

Note that VGTC membership is completely free for IEEE CS members. The cost of IEEE CS membership is $56 (or between $8 and $13 if you are a student, depending on where you live) if you are already an IEEE member, or $125 if you are not an IEEE member. The cost of IEEE membership ranges from $80 to $193 for professional members, or from

$27 to $37 for students, depending on where you live.

The VGTC sponsors or co-sponsors several major conferences in the field of Visualization and Computer Graphics -- VIS, VR, ISMAR, 3DUI, Pacific Vis, EuroVis. You probably have attended one more of these in the past and hopefully will attend them in the future. The VGTC's mission is to facilitate a vibrant community for researchers and practitioners in this field and to encourage new talent to join in.

The VGTC recognizes technical achievements at all levels through a set of annual awards, ranging from career to technical to dissertation awards. Its community website http://vgtc.org offers archives of a growing set of conferences, videos of the talks, and much more. You are very much invited and encouraged to participate in the discussion forums that have been established for each paper.

Best,

Huamin Qu

Secretary of the VGTC Executive Committee
