Qualifications: An earned doctorate in a field related to human-computer interaction, user experience design, or information science. Focus areas may include: human-centered design, user experience design, service design, information design, tangible embodied interaction, AR/VR/xR, interactive media development, visualization, social computing, or socio-technical systems. The ability to pursue interdisciplinary funded research, and the ability to work with and teach diverse groups of students, is required.

Duties: Commitment to teaching, scholarly activity and the building of an active research program are required. Demonstrating active learning pedagogies in a studio environment; scholarly research and funded activity for an active research program; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and mentoring are expected. Job Description: The Department of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University (CGT) invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of human-centered design and computing. The faculty member will support the undergraduate major in user experience (UX) design as well as other undergraduate majors in the department, advise masters and doctoral students, develop and conduct an actively funded research program, and provide service and engagement work.

CGT: At Purdue University, CGT is one of six units in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute. It offers the BS and MS in Computer Graphics Technology, and participates in the Polytechnic Institute PhD program. CGT balances undergraduate and graduate education with a strong research and engagement agenda. For additional information, please see: https://polytechnic.purdue.edu/cgt. The department includes majors in game development and design, animation and visual effects, data visualization, building information modeling and product lifecycle management, and UX design. The undergraduate program in UX Design was started in 2015, and provides studio-based education to support a range of HCI and UX-focused careers. Graduates of this program engage in human-centered design work through a vertically-integrated undergraduate curriculum, and build a demonstrated ability to work in teams using excellent oral and written communication skills.

Rank and Salary are commensurate with experience for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a 9-month appointment.
