Job Description
Immediate opening for a post-doctoral researcher with strong experience in
data visualisation. Good knowledge of visualisation tools a MUST;
experience with software engineering a plus. Familiarity with the
literature on psychology and communication of risk would be a definite
advantage.
The project involves designing new tools to help professionals and
laypeople describe and understand information about risk in a variety of
domains, such as general business settings and the healthcare domain.
(Note: We are not focussed on financial risk in the banking/insurance
domains.) A strong record of productivity (e.g. publications in
recognized conferences/journals, presentations at major conferences),
creative temperament, good communication skills and a strong work ethic a
MUST.
We are a multidisciplinary and highly productive group of scientists from
diverse fields working in a joint project between IBM Dublin and
University College Cork. The post-doc will have the opportunity to work on
challenging problems at the interface of computer science, visualisation
techniques, and cognitive psychology. It is anticipated that the candidate
