Project 1: Next generation HR: Conversational Interfaces and Large-Language Models for Empathic Human-Robot Interaction The project aims to explore how the use of AI could enhance various interface types beyond the usual web forms to better support staff training, facilitation and arbitration at meetings. This could take the form of an embodied conversational interface, using technology such as Large-Language Models (LLMs), integrated into a physical robot. The research goals are to investigate how LLMs can be adapted in real-time using multi-modal situational awareness, what capabilities an intelligent robot embodiment focussed on HR should have, and to understand how people would interact and behave around it. Project 2: Human-Centred AI for Productivity The project aims to explore the options to use human-centred AI to improve productivity, which is a core concern of many of sponsor’s customers. One possibility is to leverage the new data that is becoming available, such as user interactions with computer systems and those collected through wearables. The data will then be analysed with the latest AI and Machine Learning methods, with the goal to use the insight from the analysis to design the least intrusive intervention needed in a HR software solution setting that can improve productivity effectively and ethically. The IEEE VGTC Visualization Awards program recognizes and honors individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community through their research and/or service. Furthermore, we seek out nominations of individuals that enable us to recognize both the diversity of individuals and the diversity of contributions from the community at large. The VGTC Visualization Awards Program has five awards plus induction to the IEEE VGTC Visualization Academy: VGTC Visualization Dissertation Award The Doctoral Dissertation Award recognizes outstanding academic research and development in the field. VGTC Visualization Significant New Researcher Award The VGTC Significant New Researcher Award recognizes an individual who has made significant recent research contributions in the field. VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award The Technical Achievement Award is given each year to recognize an individual for a seminal technical achievement and/or significant contribution in the field. VGTC Visualization Lifetime Achievement Award The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual to honor that person's lifetime contribution to the field. Because of the immense design space for optimization, it can take both novices and experts substantial effort to derive desired visualization results from data for exploration or communication. Following the resurgence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years, in the field of visualization, there is a growing interest and opportunity in applying AI to perform data transformation and to assist the generation of visualization, aiming to strike a balance between cost and quality. The use of visualization to enhance AI is the other active line of research. This workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis 2025, aims at exploring this emerging area of research and practice by fostering communication between visualization researchers and practitioners. Attendees will be introduced to the latest and greatest research innovations in AI-enhanced visualization (AI4VIS) as well as visualization-enhanced AI (VIS4AI), and also learn about further research opportunities. This program is a great networking opportunity for both mentees and mentors to learn about each other and the VR field in general! How do I participate? Interested individuals can apply to the Mentorship Program after registering for the 2025 IEEE VR conference. Mentors and mentees will be matched by the program organizers based on different levels of IEEE VR experience and research interests and will be put in contact before the conference begins. As part of this goal, we invite early career researchers to apply for a *2025 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Grant*. 2nd CFP (reminder), and also a reminder that CG&A has a partnership for the presentation of outstanding papers, including papers in this special issue, at IEEE VIS and EuroVis: IEEE CG&A has an ongoing initiative to select outstanding papers published the previous year for presentation at collaborating conferences such as IEEE VIS and EuroVis. For instance, 8 of our 2023 papers were showcased at EuroVis 2024 and 12 at IEEE VIS 2024. Paper authors have the option to accept or decline these invitations. ----------------------------- CFP: IEEE CG&A seeks submissions for its upcoming Sep 2025 special issue on Breakthroughs, Challenges, and Opportunities in Biological Data Visualization, with a submission deadline of Feb 21st, 2025. https://www.computer.org/digital-library/magazines/cg/cfp-biological-data-v… The rapidly expanding data generated by advanced methods in biology is creating enormous challenges at the interface between humans and biological data that can be represented and analyzed visually.
