Postdoctoral Position in Intelligent User Interfaces / InfoVis, Dept. of Computer Science, University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver, BC, Canada ====================================== We are seeking outstanding candidates with a background in user-adaptive interaction HCI and possibly information visualization to contribute to a project aimed at developing user-adaptive visualizations. Experience with machine learning and/or eye-tracking technology is an asset. The project involves an interdisciplinary team from the fields of artificial intelligence, psychology, adaptive interfaces and information visualization, and it has been on-going for three years. The outcomes of the project so far have contributed results to the growing evidence that visualization effectiveness can depend upon a variety of user characteristics including cognitive abilities and personality traits ( http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~conati/my-papers/UMAP2012_CameraReady.pdf) We have also investigated the impact of user characteristics on attention patterns during visualization processing: (http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~conati/my-papers/CHI2013CameraReady.pdf) as well as how to infer the relevant user's characteristics in real-time from eye-tracking data (http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~conati/my-papers/IUI2013.pdf) Based on these results, the post holder will contribute to design, develop and evaluate user-adaptive visualizations that adapt in real time to specific user needs, by relying on information collected via eye-tracking and other sensors. The candidate will also help supervise and coordinate graduate students. Applicants should be qualified at the PhD level (or equivalent) and must have excellent interpersonal, writing and research skills, strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work both independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary research team. The Visual Computing Group at the Harvard School of Engineering is seeking post-doctoral fellows and PhD students in the area of visualization. We are seeking post docs to contribute to VCG's efforts in visualization for biology who will work closely with the Caleydo team in an interdisciplinary setting, as well as on topics related to visualization on the web. We welcome applications from those with visualization background and/or a computer science background and experience in working with biological data (e.g., bioinformatics). A strong track record demonstrating research experience and software development skills are required. PhD students will have a chance to work on the aforementioned topics as well as other visualization topics, such as human-computer interaction in the context of visualization. The School of Interactive Computing (IC) within the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. The successful candidate will perform research in visual analytics projects, big data analytics projects, lead research activities within the group, and interface with renowned academic research groups in visual analytics around the world. We are the lead of the Visualization Sciences Center of Excellence funded by U.S. DHS with additional funding, from DOD, NSF, and other government agencies. The VGTC Scholars will blog and host discussions on the new VGTC.org website, to enliven the community through raising topics which are on the forefront of research or important to the community. Scholars will also blog about VGTC-sponsored conferences they attend. Each Scholar will be recognized on the new VGTC website (launching soon), and receive a remuneration of US $350. Scholars will be expected to each post at least 4 blog articles per year. Terms are for one year renewable. Tool for exploring InfoVis paper citations

We've made available the CiteVis system that presents data about the citations of and among IEEE InfoVis Conference papers. The tool can be found at http://www.cc.gatech.edu/gvu/ii/citevis. It allows you to see the number of Google Scholar citations that papers have received, when papers cite other papers, Best Paper award winners, and papers of particular authors or about particular topics. Please feel free to try it out and explore the data. We also have made available the data set driving the visualization so that others can use that data in their own work. --John
