Dear Academic friends, We’re pleased to announce the call for papers for the Input Visualization Workshop, co-located with the IEEE VIS Conference in Vienna, Austria, taking place from November 2 to 7. Input visualization — “visual representations that are designed to collect (and represent) new data rather than encode pre-existing datasets” — provides a new lens for direct interactions with data through visualizations and physicalizations. You can find a collection of input visualization online here: https://inputvisualization.github.io/ For the workshop, we invite three types of submissions for the workshop: (1) Position papers, (2) Examples of input visualizations, (3) Expressions of interest to participate in the workshop without submitting a paper or example to help us estimate the number of attendees. 👉: https://forms.gle/T6wmARWrcZfMRwS28 🫶🏻 (1) Position papers: We invite 2+ page position papers or pictorials that identify, highlight, or address key challenges related to interaction and input in visualizations, including (but not limited to): - New or existing input visualization designs. - New or overlooked use cases for interaction in visualizations. - Case studies of participatory visualization and physicalization in practice. - New interaction techniques for inputting, modifying, or annotating data via visual interfaces. - Novel physical, tangible, or tool-driven approaches to interacting with visualizations. - Design principles, challenges, or opportunities for interactive visualizations. Submissions should use the VGTC conference two-column format or DIS Pictorial format. Submissions will be shared with participants before the workshop. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend the workshop and must register for at least one day of the conference. ** 16th Workshop on Visual Analytics in Healthcare ** Full-day Workshop In conjunction with IEEE VIS 2025 The 2025 Workshop on Visual Analytics (VA) in Healthcare (VAHC 2025) is the 16th annual workshop that provides an opportunity for participants to discuss state-of-the-art interactive visual data analysis techniques and review how such techniques can be applied to healthcare data. Moreover, recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), generative AI, and other emerging technologies have led to a growing and evolving need in healthcare VA. These technologies can be leveraged to enhance AI explainability and improve human data analysis through AI-driven reasoning. The primary objective of the workshop is to bring together leading VIS designers, VA researchers, medical experts, and visionaries to discuss: a) interactive data visualization techniques that can be applied to healthcare data, b) areas of healthcare that need more attention from visualization and visual data analysis, and c) emerging research trends, visualization techniques, software applications, benchmarks, and open datasets. The workshop will enable presenters to showcase their ongoing work through oral presentation and system demonstrations. In past years, both demonstrations of prototype and production visual analytics software have been particularly well received, and paper submitters are encouraged to submit a companion demo proposal. Yet, over the same time period, many forces have emerged to transform the health informatics ecosystem: a worldwide pandemic, the proliferation of mobile devices and sensors, the emergence of AI, and the rise of large population electronic health data resources, to name a few. At VAHC 2025, we will include a Grand Challenges session where we will work to integrate the expertise of present and past authors, panelists, audience, and committees to shape a common set of grand challenges for this field, in this era. To support this, we introduce a separate track for short position papers. We aim to collaboratively publish a Grand Challenges article using workshop outcomes to help guide future research. Seeking Expert Opinion on Infographics Understanding and Design Space

Greetings, We are a team of researchers at the Human Data Interaction Group at University of Maryland. We are conducting a survey to learn about how domain experts perceive, design and use infographics (information graphics) in their research and professional work. This project has been reviewed by the University of Maryland Institutional Review Board (irb(a)umd.edu; Package Number 2302082-2). We are looking for (but not limited to) designers, scientists, business professionals and educators as potential survey participants. To participate, you must satisfy all of the following criteria: 1. Be at least 18 years of age; 2. Consume, create or use infographics as part of your professional work. This survey is estimated to take about 5-10 minutes to complete. You will not receive compensation for successfully completing this survey. Your participation is completely voluntary and any survey response you share with us will be confidential and de-identified. Full CfP: https://www.vinci-symp.org/ ========================================================================== VINCI '25 includes tracks of Technical Papers, Art Papers, and Art and Media Galleries, as well as a new special track on Cultural Heritage. We solicit original, unpublished research papers that focus on all aspects of visual information communication and interaction, either via images, computer graphics, animations, virtual reality, web, artistic projects, or other visual media. Research papers should address cognitive and design aspects, underlying theories, taxonomies, implementation work, tool support, and case studies. ** TRACKS ** Technical Papers: A technical paper describes a new algorithm, technique, system, or theory that has not previously appeared in the literature. The description provided in the paper should be complete enough that a competent/qualified graduate student in visual information communication could implement or apply the work and should provide a formal/informal evaluation and discussion regarding its strengths and weaknesses. Art Papers: This track serves as a link between arts, design, technology, and science by offering creative views and artistic applications. We are especially interested in the submissions that demonstrate tangible and artistic ways of visual information communication and address information aesthetics. The topics range from experimental and interdisciplinary case studies and methodologies, novel and critical interfaces for VINCI topics to critical analysis of theory and reference works in the field. The art papers call is open-theme, and this year, we have three types in the Art Papers: full papers, short papers and posters. Art and Media Galleries: The VINCI Art and Media Galleries celebrates artistic creations demonstrating conceptual and technological innovation related to visual information communication and interaction. We accept project topics, including data art, generative art and design, interactive graphics, real-time simulation, scientific illustration, creative and critical visualization, and more. The art and media galleries call is open-theme. This year, we have two types in the Art and Media Galleries: Media Demos and Artworks. Cultural Heritage Special Track: A new Special Track this year to explore and advance the intersection of visual information communication and cultural heritage. This special track invites contributions that demonstrate how visual techniques, tools, and systems can be applied to safeguard, promote, study, and interact with cultural heritage, encompassing both tangible and intangible aspects. Technical papers, artistic works, and interactive systems or prototypes that contribute to the field of cultural heritage through innovative visual communication and interaction are welcomed.
