The School of Interactive Computing (IC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications for several anticipated tenure track faculty positions at all levels of seniority. Launched in September 2014, this interdisciplinary BSc programme achieved an overall satisfaction score of 90% in the 2018 National Student Survey, and ranked first in the Russell Group for “Learning Opportunities” and “Organisation and Management” measures. This position will commence mid-December 2019 and will be available as a full time appointment for a period of 6 months (until mid-June 2020). The role will be held within the University’s interdisciplinary Department of Theatre, Film and Television (TFTV). TFTV, established in 2006, is a highly innovative department that brings together research, teaching and commercial activities in the fields of interactive media, film, television and theatre. In September 2010, we moved into a £30m purpose-designed building with superb facilities for both production activities and academic study. In 2015, the department together with Computer Science started leading the Digital Creativity Labs, a newly funded £18m flagship project of the UK Government’s Digital Economy programme. On 1 May 2019, the department, together with the Digital Creativity Labs, launches XR Stories, an exciting new R&D partnership for the Yorkshire screen industries as part of the Creative Industries Cluster Programme, funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council and part of the Industrial Strategy. == Role == The successful candidate will lead and teach on existing modules covering introductory programming in Processing (Java) and the interactive media development process (e.g. design, user experience, prototyping, evaluation and project management for a variety of applications). You will develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material to create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students as well as carry out on-going curriculum review, and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies. You will also contribute to final year project supervision and marking and undertake a range of administrative responsibilities. == Skills, Experience & Qualification needed == You will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a PhD, but at least a Masters degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science, HCI or Games Design and Development) and experience teaching at HE level. Dear Colleagues, The Department of Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position, in Geographic Information Science (GIScience) with specific focus on environmental or social applications of Spatial Data Science, beginning in August 2020. We seek candidates whose work advances the frontiers of spatiotemporal analytics and geographic data science in creative and novel ways to drive emerging questions involving change and dynamics, and in the interplay between human and environmental systems, as related to natural hazards or climate, natural or human resources, public health, demography, urbanization, or other questions at the nexus of human-natural dimensions of environmental change. The successful candidate has a strong foundation in GIScience, current and emerging methods in statistics, data science, and/or machine learning, and can demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary research in and beyond the geographical sciences. The Department of Geography sponsors a vital undergraduate certificate in GIS and Computational Science in collaboration with the Computer Science Department. The Department also plays a key role in Earth Lab, a synthesis center for Earth systems research that aims to accelerate data-driven discovery (https://www.colorado.edu/earthlab/) with a strong focus on leveraging remotely-sensed geospatial data. Interest in spatiotemporal analysis, dynamic modeling, data science and computational GIScience is high across the College of Arts & Sciences and campus as a whole. The ideal candidate will be motivated to interact with colleagues across a broad array of disciplines. As part of the normal three courses per year teaching expectation, the successful candidate will rotate regularly into three existing courses: Introductory GIScience, Basic Statistics and Advanced Quantitative Methods at least every other year. The candidate will teach an upper division elective in spatiotemporal analysis for undergraduate and graduate students. The candidate will also regularly teach a graduate level seminar on a research topic of their choosing and congruent with student demand and department needs. There is also the potential to align teaching with an interdisciplinary professional certificate / degree in Earth Data Analytics blending data science and Earth systems knowledge, which is run through Earth Lab.
