(Apologies for cross-posting) * Application deadline: June 30, 2020 * The visual analytics group at the Zhejiang Lab, Hangzhou, China invites applications for a research scientist position in machine and deep learning-driven visual analytics. The group, newly established in 2019, conducts cutting-edge research on visual analytics and information visualization. It is currently seeking several highly-motivated individuals who will contribute to the growing research in machine and deep learning-driven visual analytics. A successful candidate should have a PhD degree in computer science or a similar area, and profound experience in one or more of the following or related topics: * Visualization and visual analytics * Human-computer interaction * Augmented reality and mixed reality * Big data, data mining, or machine learning for interactive data analytics To apply for the position, please send your application (a research statement, academic CV, list of publications, and the contact information of three referees) in one PDF file (up to 10 MB) to Prof. Yingcai Wu (ycwu(a)zju.edu.cn) Review of applications will begin on May 15, 2020, and will continue until the position is filled. *CDVE2020 Full paper submission extended to May 25, 2020* *The 17th International Conference on Cooperative Design, Visualization and Engineering * http://www.cdve.org, email: cdve2020(a)easychair.org The CDVE2020 conference will be held from October 25-28, 2020 as planned and will go virtual with plan B. The full paper submission deadline is extended to May 25. All the paper submission, review, acceptance and final paper submission processes will be the same except that the registration fee will be lower. If you have not yet submitted your paper, it is a great opportunity to do so! The proceedings will be published by the LNCS - Lecture Notes in Computer Science by Springer and indexed by ISI(CPCI-S), Web of Science, EI, Scopus, DBLP, ACM Digital Library. Selected papers will be invited to fully expand to be included in special or normal issues of a couple SCI indexed journals. The topics of the paper should be about cooperative design, cooperative visualization, cooperative engineering and any other cooperative applications which includes social networks, cooperative learning, gaming, sensor network … and much more. Data Visualization's Breakthrough Moment in the COVID-19 Crisis The discipline has made some important contributions over its 300-year history, but perhaps none more so than now https://medium.com/nightingale/data-visualizations-breakthrough-moment-in-t… If you haven't seen it, Nightingale, is a widely-read free online publication of the Data Visualization Society, which has emerged in the past year as a strong force in promoting data visualization, especially among professionals and the general public. The article describes and links to some of the 600+ visualizations that have appeared on the web during the COVID-19 crisis. It highlights the valuable role of visualization to inform the public, help hospital managers plan, and guide government policy-makers.
