We are happy to announce the establishment of the Vienna Doctoral College on Digital Humanism, an interdisciplinary doctoral training program addressing critical societal challenges in the digital age. We are recruiting five PhD candidates for the Doctoral College to explore topics like AI transparency, sustainability, democratic impact, inclusive design, and more. Candidates will work across three leading universities in Vienna—TU Wien, University of Vienna, and WU Wien—combining informatics, social sciences, and humanities expertise. CFP reminder: IEEE CG&A issue on BioVis, tie-in w/ VIS and EuroVis

2nd CFP (reminder), and also a reminder that CG&A has a partnership for the presentation of outstanding papers, including papers in this special issue, at IEEE VIS and EuroVis: IEEE CG&A has an ongoing initiative to select outstanding papers published the previous year for presentation at collaborating conferences such as IEEE VIS and EuroVis. For instance, 8 of our 2023 papers were showcased at EuroVis 2024 and 12 at IEEE VIS 2024. Paper authors have the option to accept or decline these invitations. ----------------------------- CFP: IEEE CG&A seeks submissions for its upcoming Sep 2025 special issue on Breakthroughs, Challenges, and Opportunities in Biological Data Visualization, with a submission deadline of Feb 21st, 2025. https://www.computer.org/digital-library/magazines/cg/cfp-biological-data-v… The rapidly expanding data generated by advanced methods in biology is creating enormous challenges at the interface between humans and biological data that can be represented and analyzed visually. To meet these challenges, a blend of methodology from the visualization, bioinformatics and biology domains is required. This methodology encompasses perception and design knowledge, algorithm design, techniques for analyzing and visualizing big data, statistics, and specific domain knowledge for different application problems. Powerful and integrative visualization methods are necessary, as well as methods for visually communicating the outcome of computational analytical methods and findings. This special issue aims to highlight new challenges in biological data visualization (BioVis), and state-of-the-art solutions created by the vibrant BioVis community. We invite contributions on all aspects of data visualization in biology, from molecular to cell, tissue, organism and population biology. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Genome and sequence data visualization, including genomic variation data, 3D and 4D genome visualization, and chromosome interaction maps * Multivariate omics data visualization (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.) * Phylogenetic data visualization, as well as biological networks and pathways * Neurobiology and developmental biology visualization, biological atlases and metadata * Macromolecular structures (e.g., protein or RNA structures) visualization * Biological image data, such as microscopy data visualization * Visualization for the modeling and simulation of biological systems * Biovis systems and software frameworks, and integrating visualization and machine learning for biological analysis * Biological workflows or collaborative processes, processes for interdisciplinary collaboration between biology and visualization, and usability of visualization by biologists, including communicating uncertainty * New challenges, breakthroughs, and opportunities in biological data visualization ________________________________ Submission Guidelines For author information and guidelines on submission criteria, visit the Author’s Information page. Dear Colleagues, Please find below the CFP for our “Visualization Meets AI” workshop, co-located with IEEE PacificVis 2025. ===WORKSHOP=== Visualization Meets AI Workshop, colocated with IEEE PacificVis 2025 https://vismeetsai.github.io/ The task of data visualization generally involves a design step, which requires the knowledge of the data domain and visualization methods to do well. Because of the immense design space for optimization, it can take both novices and experts substantial effort to derive desired visualization results from data for exploration or communication. Following the resurgence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years, in the field of visualization, there is a growing interest and opportunity in applying AI to perform data transformation and to assist the generation of visualization, aiming to strike a balance between cost and quality. The use of visualization to enhance AI is the other active line of research. This workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis 2025, aims at exploring this emerging area of research and practice by fostering communication between visualization researchers and practitioners. Attendees will be introduced to the latest and greatest research innovations in AI-enhanced visualization (AI4VIS) as well as visualization-enhanced AI (VIS4AI), and also learn about further research opportunities. The workshop will be composed of paper presentations and invited talks. ===CALL FOR PAPERS=== All accepted papers will appear in the proceedings of IEEE PacificVis 2025 and the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. We welcome contributions as both full papers and short papers this year.
