More details below and here: https://nms.kcl.ac.uk/daniele.magazzeni/positions.html PostDoc positions on the project Trust in Human-Machine Partnership THuMP: Trust in Human-Machine Partnership is a multi-disciplinary 3-year project, with the ambitious goal of advancing the state-of-the-art in trustworthy human-AI decision-support systems. ThUMP will address the technical challenges involved in creating explainable AI (XAI) systems, with a focus on Explainable Planning and Computational Argumentation, so that people using the system can better understand the rationale behind and trust suggestions made by an AI system. This project is conducted in collaboration with three project partners: Save the Children and Schlumberger, which provide use cases for the project, and the law firm Hogan Lovells, which will cooperate in considering legal implications of enhancing machines with transparency and the ability to explain. 1 PostDoc will be responsible for conducting research around decision support in human-machine teams, particularly for resource allocation. Tasks will involve building software infrastructure for the project, developing a prototype interface for communicating with users, designing and conducting experiments with human subjects based on the use cases that will be co-created with the project partners, with an emphasis on visual analytics for explainable AI in the context of resource allocation in critical domains (Apply here!). With that in mind, this year's Papers Chairs have been hard at work aligning the calls for participation for the three conferences and making it easier to choose where to submit your work. A few big changes for 2019 include: 1. We have added more standardized language across all three conference calls, making it easier for authors to compare the calls and decide where to submit their work. 2. All three conference calls will include new and consistent guidelines for open-publication and open-data practices. 3. Authors who are uncertain about which conference to submit to will now have the option of deferring that choice to the conference papers chairs, who can direct the paper to the pool of reviewers who are best-suited to evaluate it. The project is in collaboration with Capital One and it aims at developing novel methods and systems to support model understanding and validation. The position is available immediately but the start date is flexible. Design a t-shirt for our Student Volunteers (SV) to wear during their duty and receive a free SV spot yourself! If we select your design, you will receive a travel support grant and enjoy all the advantages of being an SV! No waitlist, no recommendation letter required! Find more details below. Deadline: January 24th, 2019 ______________________________________________________ We are looking for designs for the IUI SV t-shirts! Designs can include references to the theme of IUI ("Where HCI meets A.I."), the color of the logo, and the location (Los Angeles, USA). The t-shirts are supposed to make the SVs recognizable in a crowd of people and let them appear as friendly helpers to the community.
