2nd CFP (reminder), and also a reminder that CG&A has a partnership for the presentation of outstanding papers, including papers in this special issue, at IEEE VIS and EuroVis: IEEE CG&A has an ongoing initiative to select outstanding papers published the previous year for presentation at collaborating conferences such as IEEE VIS and EuroVis. For instance, 8 of our 2023 papers were showcased at EuroVis 2024 and 12 at IEEE VIS 2024. Paper authors have the option to accept or decline these invitations. ----------------------------- CFP: IEEE CG&A seeks submissions for its upcoming Sep 2025 special issue on Breakthroughs, Challenges, and Opportunities in Biological Data Visualization, with a submission deadline of Feb 21st, 2025. https://www.computer.org/digital-library/magazines/cg/cfp-biological-data-v… The rapidly expanding data generated by advanced methods in biology is creating enormous challenges at the interface between humans and biological data that can be represented and analyzed visually. To meet these challenges, a blend of methodology from the visualization, bioinformatics and biology domains is required. This methodology encompasses perception and design knowledge, algorithm design, techniques for analyzing and visualizing big data, statistics, and specific domain knowledge for different application problems. Powerful and integrative visualization methods are necessary, as well as methods for visually communicating the outcome of computational analytical methods and findings. This special issue aims to highlight new challenges in biological data visualization (BioVis), and state-of-the-art solutions created by the vibrant BioVis community. We invite contributions on all aspects of data visualization in biology, from molecular to cell, tissue, organism and population biology. Dear Colleagues, Please find below the CFP for our “Visualization Meets AI” workshop, co-located with IEEE PacificVis 2025. ===WORKSHOP=== Visualization Meets AI Workshop, colocated with IEEE PacificVis 2025 https://vismeetsai.github.io/ The task of data visualization generally involves a design step, which requires the knowledge of the data domain and visualization methods to do well. Because of the immense design space for optimization, it can take both novices and experts substantial effort to derive desired visualization results from data for exploration or communication. Following the resurgence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years, in the field of visualization, there is a growing interest and opportunity in applying AI to perform data transformation and to assist the generation of visualization, aiming to strike a balance between cost and quality. The use of visualization to enhance AI is the other active line of research. This workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis 2025, aims at exploring this emerging area of research and practice by fostering communication between visualization researchers and practitioners. Attendees will be introduced to the latest and greatest research innovations in AI-enhanced visualization (AI4VIS) as well as visualization-enhanced AI (VIS4AI), and also learn about further research opportunities. Overview The Doctoral Consortium at IEEE VR 2025 is a concentrated event where students present their research interests, plans, and results to a panel of researchers in related fields and receive specific and constructive feedback, including opportunities to meet with mentors one-on-one. Accepted students will be expected to give in-depth presentations of their research and will receive valuable comments from mentors and peers. Additionally, accepted students will have the chance to create a poster about their work to allow IEEE VR 2025 attendees to quickly familiarize themselves with each other’s work. Presenting a poster is a great way to get feedback on work that has not yet been published. Initial submissions should be in the form of a two-page extended abstract, which will undergo a review process. The poster design does not need to be submitted on the initial submission deadline. Authors whose posters are accepted will be able to submit their poster as a PDF at the camera-ready deadline so that it will appear together with the extended abstract on IEEE eXplore. In addition, *authors of accepted posters will be required to provide a teaser video and a teaser image*. More information can be found in the Poster Presentation section of this call. This will be verified by the primary reviewer. Poster Presentation There will be three dedicated days for poster presentations throughout the conference week. Each accepted poster will be assigned to *one* specific day and will have multiple presentation slots throughout that day, e.g., during coffee breaks, to maximize exposure and interaction with conference attendees. During the poster presentation, one or more authors need to be physically present at their poster to discuss their work with other attendees. Due to the number of anticipated posters and other time constraints, there will not be a traditional poster fast-forward session at this year’s conference. Instead, *authors of accepted posters will be asked to provide a 30 to 60 second teaser video with their final submission, which will be showcased on the conference website, and a teaser image, which will be showcased at the conference venue.* We will share more details including video requirements, teaser image requirements, and the anticipated date of presentation with the authors of accepted posters shortly after the notification of the results. Best Poster Awards The best poster award(s) will recognize the most outstanding poster contributions. It will be based on (1) the significance of the research contributions described in the submitted two-page poster summaries, as well as (2) the clarity, creativity, design, and presentation of the poster. Awards will not be selected by the Posters Chairs but by a committee of highly regarded individuals in our field. These awards will be noted in the program and presented with a signed certificate. Call for Eurovis Education Papers We seek original contributions for presentation and publication in the Eurovis Education Papers track. The scope includes various topics related to education: 1. Teaching related areas such as Information Visualization, Scientific Visualization, Visual Analytics, 2. Designing and teaching online and hybrid courses: novel teaching methods, curriculum design, teaching to diverse audiences, tools and platforms for teaching, assessment techniques for evaluating learning outcomes, 3. Enabling and exploiting visualization tools and techniques to teach in other disciplines. 4. Classroom challenges in visualization, e.g. innovative and effective assessment, engaging student interest, managing diverse student backgrounds, teaching mathematical foundations, 5. Incorporating modern technology in visualization courses (e.g. VR, AR, 3D printing, gaming, etc), 6. Bringing visualization research into the classroom, 7. Promoting undergraduate research in visualization, 8. Visualization Literacy - models and frameworks for evaluating data visualization literacy, strategies to enhance data visualization literacy in the classroom or with general audiences, case studies of data visualization literacy initiatives. We invite authors to submit their contributions that fall into one of the following categories: * Regular papers [max. 8 pages] describing the experience of educators in the topics listed above, bringing ideas on how to make the education process more efficient and funnier, attracting students to further research work, discussing innovative opportunities, etc. Whenever possible, we encourage authors to provide evidence of their effectiveness. * Innovative assignments [max. 4 pages] explaining real assignments, providing examples of handouts and starter code and examples of student work. Explanations and descriptions of when and how to implement and facilitate the assignments in a semester (e.g., orchestration details) are highly recommended. Providing a description of the assessment method is also suggested. Authors may provide all relevant artifacts as supplementary materials during submission, and agree to provide access to them online upon acceptance. * Outstanding student projects (individual or group) [max. 2 pages] should describe the learning context for the project and show how the student(s) brought creativity to their work. We also have a (non-tenure track) teaching professor position in AI where the ability to teach the Intro to AI course is required. Do you want to develop a Visual Analytics solution to help therapists monitor the rehabilitation of visually impaired patients? This PhD project is for you! In this PhD project, several teams (clinical centers, serious game developers, and academic institutions) combine their multidisciplinary skills to create and deploy a solution for rehabilitating patients having visual impairments by offering them training scenarios using a virtual reality (VR) setup. As PhD candidate in this project, you will conduct independent, high-quality research resulting in a doctoral dissertation. Your research will focus on designing a Visual Analytics solution to analyse data from rehabilitating patients with hemianopsia (partial blindness). With the support of explainable AI models, you will develop Visual Analytics dashboards for exploring complex data recorded from the training patients including eye tracking, task progress, and success rates. By quantifying model uncertainty, these dashboards will enable therapists to monitor and improve patients’ visual rehabilitation progress.
