Serving as a student volunteer is also a great chance to meet and interact with scientists from the field of Virtual Reality. Volunteering for VR 2025 is also an opportunity to gain academic service experience—an often-critical component of post graduate work—and valuable experience for future scientific event organization. We look forward to receiving your application for IEEE VR 2025! Benefits Besides the stimulating experience, SVs will receive an excellent package of benefits that includes: - free registration* - hotel accommodation for non-local volunteers when possible (shared with one or two other SVs) * If you are an author, make sure to have one of your co-authors register and pay a full fee according to your publication. Expectations This year, IEEE VR will take place in Saint-Malo, France. You must be willing to work about *25 to 30 hours* during the conference. Furthermore, you must be available for SV orientation on Friday, March 7th, before the conference begins. Your SV duties will include: working the registration desk on-site, helping with the setup of the conference environment, providing assistance to speakers and attendees, and more. If you cannot commit yourself to this time frame and this amount of work, then please do not take away a slot from another willing student. Eligibility All full-time undergraduate and graduate students interested in Virtual Reality or related disciplines are eligible. We will consider geographic distance from the conference as well as diversity in the area of research. The following additional considerations will influence volunteer selection: - An accepted publication/presentation at VR 2025. - Good communication skills in English. - Previous experience in event organization is desired but not required. - The number of volunteers from each region, institution, and research group may be balanced to ensure broad participation. - Students from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Dear colleagues, The *EuroVis PhD Award* recognizes outstanding dissertations in academic research and development covering topics relevant to visualization. The intent of this award is to recognize excellent young researchers in their early career and to highlight visualization research. Eligibility: All dissertations by PhD researchers from the European visualization community (e.g., through contributions to the EuroVis conference) that were defended and awarded a doctoral degree between Jan 1, 2023 and Dec 31, 2024 are eligible for the 2025 competition. The SDDS is a major infrastructure project funded by Smart Data Research UK, which aims to catalyse a paradigm shift in the quality and accessibility of smart data for research into digital and online experiences (e.g. games, social media). The SDDS will achieve this by creating a service that facilitates the large-scale donation of data by the individuals that it features. This will be made possible due to the UK’s GDPR regulations, which allow people to access personal data that companies hold about them so that they can donate it securely for research purposes. == Role == This role is a unique opportunity: as the successful candidate, you will help to drive profound societal change at a key juncture in online safety and digital wellbeing; and will engage in large-scale team science, tapping into the support of an inclusive and vibrant new research institution to enact this vision. You will play a key role in the design, development and evaluation of the SDDS. You will lead underpinning research that explores an exciting range of topics around potential donors’ perceptions, understandings and experiences of data donation (e.g. exploring the motivations that drive data donation and the barriers that could prevent it) and the research community's requirements for data and methods of working with it. You will also lead the development and execution of co-design processes that directly involve these groups in the creation of services that they will be motivated to use and benefit from. The outcomes of your work will directly shape the development of the SDDS — working closely with a user-experience designer and our software development team to translate findings into actionable designs, and by leading evaluations of people’s experiences with the service that support its iteration. You will be supported to publish your findings in high quality academic conferences and journals, and will be given opportunities to engage in the process of writing research grant applications and research leadership. == Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed == As the successful candidate, you will have a PhD in a topic that relates to the understanding of people and their interactions with interactive systems (e.g. Design, Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, UX) or equivalent experience. You will have knowledge of: research methods that enable the understanding of donors’ and researchers’ perceptions, needs, barriers and experiences of data donation and services that enable it; co-design approaches that can be used to involve a diverse community of donors and researchers in directly shaping the design of the data donation service; and research methods appropriate for evaluating people’s experiences of using digital interactive systems. We particularly seek candidates with specialist research knowledge in a field that relates to the goals of the data donation service (e.g. human-data interaction, the psychology of data donation) and/or knowledge of the area of online domains and experiences where smart data is gathered and processed (e.g. digital games, social media). However, we also encourage applications from candidates with transferable experience of applying co-design research methods in other domains, who can demonstrate a passion for the topic and goals of the SDDS. Because of the immense design space for optimization, it can take both novices and experts substantial effort to derive desired visualization results from data for exploration or communication. Following the resurgence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years, in the field of visualization, there is a growing interest and opportunity in applying AI to perform data transformation and to assist the generation of visualization, aiming to strike a balance between cost and quality. The use of visualization to enhance AI is the other active line of research. This workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis 2025, aims at exploring this emerging area of research and practice by fostering communication between visualization researchers and practitioners. Attendees will be introduced to the latest and greatest research innovations in AI-enhanced visualization (AI4VIS) as well as visualization-enhanced AI (VIS4AI), and also learn about further research opportunities. Mentorship Program *deia2025(a)ieeevr.org* *IEEE VR 2024: The 32nd IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces* March 8-12, 2025 | Saint-Malo, France Overview The goal of the IEEE VR 2025 Mentorship Program is to connect newcomers to the conference (mentees) and experienced attendees (mentors) via shared interests. This program is a great networking opportunity for both mentees and mentors to learn about each other and the VR field in general! How do I participate? Interested individuals can apply to the Mentorship Program after registering for the 2025 IEEE VR conference. Mentors and mentees will be matched by the program organizers based on different levels of IEEE VR experience and research interests and will be put in contact before the conference begins. Interested participants should complete this form <https://forms.gle/69cqSoWzhBCMSuHp6> by *February 21, 2025*. This deadline is to give time for the committee to match mentors and mentees before the conference begins. First-time attendees will receive priority consideration for a mentor, and the mentorship program will be open to the most compelling 40 applicants, based on need and order of application. Mentors and mentees are expected to participate in several activities together throughout the conference. Preferably, this colleague will be someone at an institution that is different from the mentee’s to encourage further networking.
