Call for Paper: 10th China Visualization and Visual Analytics Conference (submission due May 15)

The 10th China Visualization and Visual Analytics Conference (ChinaVis 2023) will be held in Chongqing, China, from July 21 to 24, 2023, hosted by the China Society of Image and Graphics, and co-organized by Technical Committee on Visualization and Visual Analysis, Chongqing University, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Chongqing University of Education with multiple sponsorships. **Submission Guidelines** ChinaVis 2023 solicits papers written in either Chinese or English. Accepted papers in English will be recommended to publish in the Journal of Visualization or Visual Informatics, and accepted papers in Chinese will be recommended to the Journal of Computer-Aided Design & Computer Graphics or similar journals. Papers in English are required to use the IEEE VGTC conference template (http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~vis/Tasks/camera_tvcg.html) Papers in Chinese should follow the formatting guidelines of the Journal of Computer-Aided Design & Computer Graphics (http://www.jcad.cn/) The non-reference content of a manuscript should not exceed 8 pages. Submissions will be reviewed by anonymous domain experts in two rounds. The conference uses the Precision Conference System (PCS) (https://new.precisionconference.com/chinavis) for the first-round review, and manuscripts conditionally accepted will be recommended to the corresponding journals. For the second-round review, authors must revise their manuscripts according to the comments received in the first-round review and submit manuscripts using the respective submission system of the recommended journal. In the past years, the acceptance rate of papers was approximately 30%. Manuscripts should be submitted in PDF format. CALL FOR PAPERS AND DEMONSTRATIONS: Workshop on Visual Analytics in Healthcare (VAHC) (In conjunction with IEEE VIS 2023) Website: www.visualanalyticshealthcare.org The submission deadline is July 17, 2023, creating an opportunity to showcase late-breaking research results on Visual Analytics in Healthcare. CALL FOR PAPERS: ---------------- The 2023 Workshop on Visual Analytics in Healthcare (VAHC 2023) is the 14th annual workshop that provides an opportunity for participants to discuss state-of-the-art interactive visual data analysis techniques and review how such techniques can be applied to healthcare data. The primary objective of the workshop is to bring together leading VIS designers, scientists, medical experts, and visionaries to discuss: a) interactive data visualization techniques that can be applied to healthcare data, b) areas of healthcare that need more attention from visualization and visual data analysis research, and c) emerging research trends, visualization techniques, software applications, benchmarks, and open datasets. The workshop will enable presenters to showcase their ongoing work through oral presentation and system demos, either as video supplemental material or live demos during the workshop to be arranged with the organizers for maximum visibility. In years past, demos of prototype and/or production visual analytics software have been particularly well received, and paper submitters are encouraged to submit a companion demo proposal. BEST PAPERS: ---------------- VAHC assigns Best Paper and Honorable Mention awards. The awards entail a certificate and recognition on the VAHC website. This year, we also plan to invite authors of high-quality papers to submit a revised and extended version to an internationally recognized scientific journal. The topic of this special issue will be “Interactive Visualization of Health Data for Digital and Personal Health”. The review process will seek to assign the same reviewers for previously accepted VAHC papers. Watch out for details in our second call for papers. TOPICS AND SCOPE: ------------------ We welcome discussions of the use of visual approaches, interaction design, statistical methods, and machine learning for healthcare data analysis. Participants may address the needs of various user groups, including (but not limited to) patients, clinical researchers, epidemiologists, public health analysts, physicians, hospital-based quality assurance officers, and insurance claim analysts. The IEEE VGTC Visualization Awards program recognizes and honors individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community through their research and/or service. Furthermore, we seek out nominations of individuals that enable us to recognize both the diversity of individuals, as well as diversity of contributions, from the community at large. The VGTC Visualization Awards Program has five awards plus induction to the IEEE VGTC Visualization Academy: VGTC Visualization Dissertation Award The Doctoral Dissertation Award recognizes outstanding academic research and development in the field. VGTC Visualization Significant New Researcher Award The VGTC Significant New Researcher Award recognizes an individual who has made significant recent research contributions in the field. VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award The Technical Achievement Award is given each year to recognize an individual for a seminal technical achievement and/or significant contribution in the field. VGTC Visualization Lifetime Achievement Award The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual to honor that person’s lifetime contribution to the field. VGTC Visualization Service Award The IEEE VGTC Service Award recognizes extraordinary service to the community through the IEEE VGTC and/or the IEEE VGTC Sponsored Conferences and Symposia. VGTC Visualization Academy Selection The IEEE VGTC Visualization Academy is a prestigious academy that highlights the accomplishments of the leaders in the field. Nominations, except Dissertation award, should contain the name of the person nominated, the awards for which they are nominated, the short citation for the award, and a summary that carefully addresses the criteria below while not exceeding 600 words. Information+ is a biennial conference that brings together researchers and practitioners in information design and data visualization to discuss common questions and challenges in these rapidly changing fields. Deadline Extension: April 21, 2023 Call for Posters As in previous years, the EuroVis 2023 poster track will present late-breaking results, work in progress, follow-up extensions, application case studies, or evaluations of existing methods. In particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers and engage in stimulating discussions. Due to multiple requests, we have decided to extend the deadline: Important Dates Submission: ** NEW ** April 21, 2023 Notification: May 3, 2023 Camera Ready Version: May 12, 2023 All deadlines are at 23:59 GMT on the date indicated. Submission Instructions We solicit poster submissions in the form of a sketch (i.e., an extended abstract of at most 2 pages in the EuroVis poster format, with an additional page allowed for references only). We strongly encourage the submission of additional materials. For example, you can submit an additional PDF (without any page limit) that contains a number of example results, screenshots, an interaction sequence, etc. The poster draft can also be added as additional material (but is not mandatory for the submission). Finally, submissions can also include supplementary material such as videos or executable programs. In particular for interactive tools/approaches, a digital video is essential and thus strongly encouraged to allow the reviewers to assess the interactive aspects. Any accepted posters are required to have at least one (paid) registered author to attend and present the poster at the conference. Authors of accepted posters will also be required to present a brief (less than one minute) summary of their poster content at the opening preview session (also called fast-forward). Both a PDF version of the poster and the extended abstract will be included on the conference USB stick and also in the EG digital library with a DOI. The material in a poster/sketch can later be reused by the original authors for a more extensive publication (e.g., a full paper) with more detailed content and mature results, without being considered self-plagiarism. Formatting Instructions To submit to EuroVis 2023 posters, authors prepare their submission as a 2-page PDF file ("sketch") using the conference LaTeX template<https://conferences.eg.org/eurovis2023/wp-content/uploads/sites/17/2022/10/…> (including a document class, a style file, a sample source file, and a corresponding PDF output file). On Overleaf<https://www.overleaf.com/>, this template can be imported easily by selecting "New Project" -> "Upload Project" and uploading the zip file. Select EGauthorGuidelines-eurovis23-poster.tex as the main document of the project and use it for your submission. Please make sure that an image embedded in your poster sketch does not contain transparent pixels (i.e., an alpha channel of a transparent color) because this will lead to problems when the resulting PDF is displayed or printed. Submissions can also include supplementary material such as videos or executable programs. The server will accept uploads of at most 200 MB, so multiple files of over 200 MB must be submitted separately. We encourage the use of digital videos to support poster submissions, particularly if part of, or all of the work covers interactive techniques. Please use only the most common video codecs (e.g., MP4 format using the H.264 codec) to maximize the chances that the reviewers can see it. A poster draft can also be added as additional material but is not mandatory for the submission. The final posters should be printed on paper no larger than paper size A0 (or A1) portrait (84.1cm x 118.9cm = 33.1in x 46.8in, cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size) Poster sketches are submitted using the Precision Conference System (PCS)<https://new.precisionconference.com/>. Please note you have to select Eurographics as Society. Author Guidelines EuroVis 2023 poster submissions will undergo a one-stage double-blind review process. Author identities will be hidden from the external reviewers. Authors should, therefore, not include their name or institution on the cover page of the initial submission, and should make an effort to ensure that there is no self-revealing information in the text. However, you will still need to provide a complete list of authors when submitting your poster so that members of the program committee can avoid conflicts of interest during reviewer assignment. All authors must be specified in the submission system (but not in the sketch or poster draft) at the time of the submission. Adding additional authors after the acceptance of a poster is not acceptable. We expect that the submissions will clearly discuss the novel and significant contributions as well as place them in the context of prior art in the field. At least one author of an accepted poster must attend the conference to present the work, and authors will also be required to present a brief (less than one minute) summary of their poster content at the opening preview session (also called fast-forward). Contributions must be written and presented in English.
