EuroUSEC 2021 will take place on October 11 & 12, 2021, as an independent event with proceedings published by ACM. This year's paper submission deadline is June 11th. Call for Papers: CGVC 2021 CGVC 2021, hosted by the University of Lincoln (UK), is the 39th annual computer graphics, visualization, and visual computing conference organized by the Eurographics UK Chapter. The objective of Computer Graphics & Visual Computing (CGVC) is to foster greater exchange between visual computing researchers and practitioners, to welcome more researchers and industry partners in the UK, Europe, and beyond into this rapidly growing area of research. CGVC's scope includes all areas of visual computing, and a steadily more wide-spread visibility that achieves a more wide-spread impact. Submissions are optionally single- or double-blind: authors may choose whether to anonymize their submission or not. Reviewers’ identities are not revealed. Full Papers A full paper submission is upto 8 pages describing completed research, plus 1 page of references only. Papers are refereed by members of the EGUK programme committee. Authors of accepted papers are expected to give a 20-minute presentation at the conference. Accepted papers will appear in the Eurographics digital library and will serve as full paper publications. Short Papers The purpose of short papers is to present late-breaking results, work-in -progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. Short papers will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process by an international programme committee. They will be electronically archived and are fully citable publications. Submissions for the short paper track should be at most 4 pages, with an additional page allowed for references. Accepted short papers will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations. Viewpoint Papers CGVC also features a viewpoint paper track (also known as position paper) which enables researchers a new possibility to publish their ideas. Viewpoints articles offer detailed technical opinions on trends in visual computing or reports on how visual computing has contributed to the comprehension of data or phenomena. We encourage discussions of challenges or limitations in today's methods and areas of potential new research topics. We are also interested in application discussions that focus on the physical, life or social sciences, engineering, or commerce, for example, or related to the process of visual computing in general. We encourage an emphasis on lessons learned from practical experience for application discussions, particularly where visual computing has been employed in a real, working environment. Viewpoint papers are submitted with author names and affiliations. Accepted viewpoint papers will be electronically archived, are fully citable publications and will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations. Extended Abstracts / Posters The purpose of this track is to present late-breaking results, work in progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. In particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers, and engage in stimulating discussions. The poster track will be managed by the co-chair team and the International Programme Committee (IPC). We solicit poster submissions in the form of an extended abstract of at most 2 pages (with an additional page allowed for references only). Posters will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process. Accepted posters, size A1 recommended, will be presented at the poster viewing session of the conference. In addition to directly submitted posters, some submissions to the full, short and viewpoint paper tracks, that are not accepted for publication but are deemed suitable, will be offered an opportunity to be presented as posters. Such submissions will not require an additional review process. Traditionally, the materials in a poster/sketch can be reused later by the original authors for a more extensive publication (i.e., a full paper) with more detailed content and mature results. This should not be considered as self-plagiarism. However, as posters/sketches are citable, researchers are encouraged to acknowledge novel ideas and results presented in posters/sketches. A poster may describe a piece of work in any aspect of visual computing. For posters, we particularly encourage a summary report of collaborative projects, work-in-progress, and application case studies. Accepted abstracts do not appear in the Eurographics digital library. An extended abstract and industrial project abstract are not considered as a paper publication, instead being similar to a SIGGRAPH one‐page sketch or to a conference poster without an associated paper. As such, presenting an extended abstract at this conference has no effect on your ability to publish a fuller version of the same work in another venue. IEEE VIS workshop - CFP - DataVis Activities to Facilitate Learning, Reflecting, Discussing, and Designing

Dear All, Help us spread the news ! We invite submissions for our second workshop on VisActivities-DataVis Activities to Facilitate Learning, Reflecting, Discussing, and Designing (Oct. 24/29, 2021, Virtual/New Orleans, LA, USA): https://visactivities.github.io . MOTIVATION: Workshops, classes, or collaborations with domain experts often include hands-on data visualization activities that involve analog or digital tools and materials as well as more or less well-defined protocols. Recent years have seen the emergence of such data visualization activities in different contexts, including education, visualization design, activism, self-reflection, and interdisciplinary collaboration: for example, sketching aids designers to consider alternative ideas; ,manipulating tokens help students conceptualize quantities for data visualization; user interviews and discussions help developers understand requirements manipulating data help activist better understand social issues, etc. While many of these activities would naturally take place in a group setting, due to the social distancing measures during the Covid-19 more and more of these activities are now happening online. Switching from co-located and synchronous activities to remote and sometimes asynchronous activities, changed the way we teach or design data visualization. This required teachers and designers to reinvent activities, adapt materials to be suitable for online delivery, reorganise procedures, replace physical tools with virtual, rethink collaboration and engagement, restructure or invent new activities. At the same time, moving activities online opens new possibilities to involve people across the world and in turn increase diversity and access. The goals of this workshop include: Building an understanding and to synthesize protocols and materials used to lead data vis activities (online and offline), to bring together researchers, practitioners, and educators from within and outside of the visualization community, brainstorm, design, experience, and try novel activities, and to discuss issues around goals, methods, audiences, materials, and evaluation for teaching data visualization. And also exchanges about the best teaching moment of the year. SUBMISSION: All submissions are submitted using PCS: https://new.precisionconference.com The workshop accepts 2 types of submissions: - Workshop paper, - Lightning Talks * Workshop papers, refer to classical research papers with a scientific contribution in theory, reflection, application, evaluation, design, or implementation. Page length will be limited to 4 pages TVCG/VIS style. Contributions can include: visualization activities, online platforms for activities, learning material, learning goals, taxonomies, visualization guidelines, critical reflections on conducting visualization activities (teaching experience), evaluation strategies for activities, teaching approaches, ethical and critical considerations on activities and teaching. Reports on activities should include procedures, reports and experiences about one or many teaching activities, including a protocol and material of activities including results and reflections. Materials should include new teaching material that supports teaching in general and which is ready for application (slides, visualizations of schema/diagrams/design spaces, cheat sheets, teaching tools), or targeted to support specific activities (physical visualization, sketching templates, programming tutorials). We encourage evaluations for both activities and materials. * Lightning Talks, refer to fast 2 minute presentations of anecdotes, experiences and best experience specifically regarding online vis activities. These can discuss best teaching moments, activity reports, materials, tools, set-up etc in a brief concise way (4-5 slides) with the possibility of including additional material on the workshop website. Submission page length will be limited to 1 page briefly outlining the experience (only the abstract and a picture are mandatory) with any additional material added as an appendix. Lightning talks could also be picked for the Ice breaker: Fast forward testimony of best (teaching) moment of the year. The goal of these (casual) talks is to inspire, exchange nuggets of knowledge, provoke, trigger conversation and have fun. Any submission will be peer-reviewed, providing constructive feedback for the camera-ready version. It aims to bring Machine Learning and Visualization researchers together in order to exchange research ideas. We are looking for a full-time postdoc and a research engineer for up to 2 years in the area of data visualization. Come contribute to exciting research in data-driven storytelling, network visualization, visualization literacy, human-computer interaction, and interdisciplinary vis. https://visualinteractivedata.github.io/jobs-viscovery.html <https://visualinteractivedata.github.io/jobs-viscovery.html> The project aims to develop visualizations, interfaces and systems to support analysts in the humanities (history, social science, archaeology, etc.) in exploring geo-temporal networks. Our research aims to provide new ways to support interactive exploration for network data as well as training novice-analysts in data and visualization literacy. A research engineer role will support the development of our network visualization platform. Publications are aimed to be presented at top-tier international conferences (CHI, VIS, EuroVis). The project is led by Benjamin Bach. We will collaborate with researchers in visualization and HCI at Microsoft Research as well as in network analysis, archaeology, and history in the UK, across Europe, and beyond. The group is a new and thriving interdisciplinary visualization group including faculty, postdocs, PhD students, and master students in Design Informatics.
