Dear All, This year, EuroVis 2025<https://www.eurovis2025.lu/>—Europe’s leading conference on visualization research—will take place in Luxembourg City from June 2-6. Since its inception in 1999 as a symposium, EuroVis has grown into a premier platform for advancing visualization research and applications across Europe and beyond. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with visualization researchers and practitioners across disciplines, exchange ideas, and foster new collaborations. In particular, this track provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers and engage in stimulating discussions. Addition of the opportunity to present hardware or software demonstrations may also be of particular interest for practitioners. We solicit poster and/or demo submissions in the form of an extended abstract of at most 2 pages in the EuroVis poster format, with an additional page allowed for references only, submitted as a PDF file. **NEW FOR 2025**: The intended presentation form during the Posters and Demos conference session must be indicated during the submission process (printed poster and/or live demonstration). In case of a poster presentation, the draft of the actual poster (A0 format, portrait orientation) is mandatory to include with the submission. In case of a live demonstration, a supplementary video is mandatory. We strongly encourage the submission of further additional materials. Contributions must be written and presented in English. EuroVis 2025 Posters and Demos submissions will undergo a one-stage single-blind review process, with the reviews provided by the international program committee. Although most people have never been trained to understand and use maps as a form of visualization with many underlying peculiarities and subjective biases inherent in their design and representation, most map-based interfaces and interactions are assumed to be effective and usable by ordinary everyday users. The main aim of this workshop is to provide a collaborative informal venue for its participants to showcase their latest design, research, or professional work on map-based interfaces and interactions, and to share their diverse practical expertise, best practices, learnings, and experiences with others. In particular, this workshop focuses on the development of more effective maps and map-like visualizations in supporting non-expert users in performing their daily tasks. This workshop is part of INTERACT 2025, and is supported by the IFIP TC 13 Working Group on Human-Centred Technology for Sustainability. *CALL FOR PARTICIPATION* ----------------------- The main objective of this workshop is to provide a collaborative informal venue for its participants to showcase their latest design, research, or professional work on map-based interfaces and interactions and to share their diverse practical expertise, best practices, learnings, and experiences with each other. Through this, the workshop also aims to help the participants to further develop their work and contribute to future research and design in their specific fields in an interdisciplinary manner. Prospective workshop participants are invited to submit either a short paper or an extended abstract describing their interests and work related to the topics of this workshop. Some of the main topics to be covered by this workshop include, but are not limited to, the following: - design and research foundations of map-based interfaces and interactions. - theories, principles and practices guiding the design of map-based interfaces and interactions. - uses of map-based interfaces and interactions in targetting societal issues relating to, for instance, environmental or public health challenges. - applications of map-based interfaces and interactions, in areas such as healthcare, education, or entertainment. - usability evaluations and user experience studies of map-based interfaces and interactions. *WORKSHOP STRUCTURE* ----------------------- This one-day workshop will follow the successful format of the previous MAPII workshops and build on the positive feedback received from their participants. It will be an informal and participatory workshop, combining short presentations of the accepted papers with group discussions. The aim is to assist the participants with developing their future research and design or professional work. The workshop will also include a fun hands-on group map design activity, during which the participants will work together in small groups to create imaginary maps and sketches for the design of an interactive application which take users' experiences into account. We hope to run the workshop in person at the conference. Provisions will, however, be made to run the workshop in remote or hybrid mode if necessary. *SUBMISSIONS* ----------------------- Workshop paper submissions should be of maximum 10 pages, and prepared according to the Springer LNCS format, using the templates provided for CS Proceedings and other Multiauthor Volumes (https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-gu…) Submissions should be made through Easychair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mapii2025) The workshop programme committee will review the submitted position papers, and select 10-15 papers for presentation at the workshop based on their quality and relevance to the workshop topics. In this workshop we aim to bring together researchers from both Visual Analytics and Process Mining, to learn, create a common language, spark collaborations, and advance both fields. Process Mining is a data-driven discipline that focuses on extracting valuable insights and knowledge from the vast amount of event data generated within organizations. It involves the discovery, analysis, and improvement of process models by leveraging techniques from data science, machine learning, and data analytics. By examining event logs and historical data, process mining aims to provide a clear, objective view of how processes actually operate, identifying bottlenecks, deviations, and opportunities for optimization. In turn, this supports organizations in making more data-informed decisions, and enhance operational efficiency. Visual analytics is an interdisciplinary field that combines data visualization, analytical techniques, and interactive interfaces to help people make sense of complex and often large datasets. It focuses on using the power of visual representations to facilitate data exploration, pattern recognition, and decision-making. By enabling users to interact with data through graphical interfaces, visual analytics promotes a deeper understanding of information, uncovers hidden insights, and supports the detection of trends, anomalies, and relationships that might be challenging to discern through traditional data analysis methods alone. We believe that process mining and visual analytics can mutually benefit each other. Until now, there has been limited interaction between the two fields, despite their shared objectives. In process mining, the emphasis has traditionally been on data extraction and process discovery, often neglecting the visualization aspect, whereas in visual analytics, event visualization efforts have often overlooked the wealth of process mining techniques that can enhance visualizations and analysis. Bridging this gap and fostering collaboration between the two fields will not only lead to more informed, efficient, and data-driven improvements in various domains but also advance the research and innovation in both process mining and visual analytics, ultimately contributing to a more holistic and integrated approach to understanding and optimizing complex processes. Topics and Scope ---------------- We encourage submissions from all areas on the intersection of visual analytics and process mining. The 2025 Workshop on Visual Process Analytics will cover a range of topics exploring the intersection of PM and VA including (but not limited to): - VA to support exploration and comparison of discovered process models - VA to support the comparison of event logs and process models, e.g., in conformance checking - VA to support the generation of hypotheses about the business process and the identification of process improvement ideas - VA to represent temporal and spatial uncertainty in PM models - Research challenges, pitfalls, and opportunities related to the intersection of VA and PM - The role of AI in PM, and how Visualization and explainable-AI solutions can support model comprehension, exploration, and refinement - Research on the use of VA in BPM and PM practice (user studies, task taxonomies, etc.) Paper Submission, Publication, and Format Guidelines -------------------------------------- We will accept short papers with up to 8 pages and regular papers with up to 15 pages. Our mission is to advance visualization games and playful activities as dynamic tools for communication, co-creation, and collaborative problem-solving in interdisciplinary environments and contexts. This workshop will showcase innovative uses of visualization games beyond education, emphasizing their potential to enrich dialogue, build shared understanding, and inspire creative solutions in real-world contexts. The half-day workshop will feature an opening and fast-forward session, two hands-on World Café-style sessions for exploring submitted visualization games, and a reflection session for discussing experiences and concluding the workshop.
