The Forum Media Technology (FMT) aims for an intensive dialogue of experts working at agencies, studios and production companies with students, lecturers, researchers and developers. Contributions are sought for the 10th Forum Media Technology, presenting current results of applied research and development, new theoretical and scientific findings or case studies, projects, formats, services and prototypes in digital media technologies. To foster the exchange between various disciplines in the huge field of digital media, the Forum Media Technology intentionally puts its focus on a wide range of content and on interdisciplinary dialogues at the intersection of new technological possibilities, creative design as well as economic, social and cultural framework requirements. ** CFP: Special Issue on Genetic Programming, Evolutionary Computation and Visualization ** Recent advances in Genetic Programming / Evolutionary Computation (GP/EC) and visualization have shown a growing synergy between these fields. On the one hand, visualization can make GP/EC algorithms more transparent, through interactive parameter tuning and the graphical representation of experimental analyses [3,5]. On the other hand, GP/EC techniques can be deployed to efficiently guide user search in exploratory visualization systems [1,2,4]. This special issue aims to bring together latest work and new advances in Genetic Programming / Evolutionary Computation (GP/EC) and Visualization (including its three subfields: information visualization, scientific visualization, and visual analytics), to produce new insights on: - how to develop better visualization tools to support GP/EC, and - how to develop robust GP/EC algorithms to support visualization applications. VizSec explores effective and scalable visual interfaces for security domains such as network security, computer forensics, reverse engineering, insider threat detection, cryptography, privacy, user assisted attacks prevention, compliance management, wireless security, secure coding, and penetration testing. ** Technical Papers ** Full papers describing novel contributions in security visualization are solicited. Papers may present techniques, applications, theory, analysis, experiments, or evaluations. The VAST Challenge is designed to help researchers understand how their software would be used in a novel analytic task and determine if their data transformations, visualizations, and interactions would be beneficial for particular analytic tasks. VAST Challenge problems provide researchers with realistic data sets and questions for evaluating their software, as well as an opportunity to advance the field by solving complex problems. This year's Challenge offers three diverse mini-challenges and a grand challenge that concern a sad state of affairs in a nature preserve, threats to flora and fauna, and the quest of a local graduate student to find the explanations. We welcome visualization innovations that address key issues in the problems presented; even if a mini-challenge is not completely solved. Postdoctoral Fellow - Augmented Reality for Decision Support * Are you a highly motivated PhD graduate? * Do you have a passion for developing novel interactive Augmented Reality (AR) applications? * A great opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and create productivity tools that have substantial industrial impacts! Future Science Platforms (FSPs) are a major new CSIRO initiative. FSPs are multi-year investments in frontier science that will reinvent and create new industries for Australia. Digiscape is the FSP that is creating next-generation decision tools to transform the agriculture and land management sector. To achieve this aim, Digiscape is bringing to bear cutting edge climate science; new sources of locally and remotely sensed data; informatics for agro-ecosystems; rigorous analysis of uncertainties; and innovation in both the ICT and social dimensions of systems integration. The successful candidate will join a cohort of early-career researchers and engineers who will combine their individual disciplinary contributions into mission-focussed R&D. Part of the Digiscape vision is that Augmented Reality technologies (such as Microsoft HoloLens) will play a key role in supporting individual and team decision making, both in the field and in the office. In the aquaculture domain these tools will assist operators on the ground and/or in the office to visualise pond conditions and access short-term pond predictions across multiple ponds. They will be a primary method for accessing the data management and modelling frameworks developed in related projects. Your success in this role will be underpinned by your record of science innovation and creativity, plus your ability and willingness to incorporate novel ideas and approaches into scientific investigations. The successful applicant will implement and evaluate prototype systems, while making use of the Advanced Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (VR) facilities in the Data61 Immersive Environments Lab in Canberra. The conference will be structured along several topics related to Information Visualization. We welcome papers describing original work in any of the topics listed below. Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques as well as general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. Paper acceptance will be based on quality, relevance to the conference theme and originality. The conference program will include both oral and poster presentations. Special sessions, dedicated to case-studies and commercial presentations, as well as technical tutorials, dedicated to technical/scientific topics, are also envisaged. Companies interested in presenting their products/methodologies or researchers interested in lecturing a tutorial are invited to contact the conference secretariat. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of its technical/scientific contribution, and the problems, domains or environments to which it is applicable. To facilitate the double-blind paper evaluation method, authors are kindly requested to produce and provide the paper WITHOUT any reference to any of the authors, including the authors’ personal details, the acknowledgments section of the paper and any other reference that may disclose the authors’ identity. Only original papers should be submitted. Authors are advised to read INSTICC's ethical norms regarding plagiarism and self-plagiarism thoroughly before submitting and must make sure that their submissions do not substantially overlap work which has been published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to a journal or another conference with proceedings. Papers that contain any form of plagiarism will be rejected without reviews. Authors can submit their work in the form of a Regular Paper, representing completed and validated research, or as a Position Paper, portraying a short report of work in progress or an arguable opinion about an issue discussing ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research focused on one of the conference topic areas. All papers must be submitted through the online submission platform PRIMORIS and should follow the instructions and templates that can be found under Guidelines and Templates. After the paper submission has been successfully completed, authors will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail. PUBLICATION All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support. SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/) and every paper on our digital library is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), INSPEC, DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index) and Scopus. It is planned to publish a short list of revised and extended versions of presented papers with Springer in a CCIS Series book (final approval pending). A short list of papers presented at IVAPP will be selected for publication of extended and revised versions in a special issue of the Open Access Information Science Journal.
