This workshop aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers to discuss their AI and VR/AR-related work in the context of learning, education, and serious gaming from both scientific and educational perspectives. The topics of this workshop include, but are not limited to analyses and applications of the following areas: + Simulations and serious games for learning,education and training. + Immersive sports training and exercising. + Intelligent tutoring systems. + AI-based learning performance monitoring and evaluation. + Behavior analysis in the context of training and learning. + AI models of gaze analysis, emotion analysis, and mental states analysis. + Learning/training data visualization and analysis in XR. + Development of new application scenarios and new prospects utilizing AI and/or XR in the context of learning. *SUBMISSIONS* We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their work in the form of a scientific technical paper or an application- or use-case centered paper. *Technical papers* should be 4-8 pages long (excluding references) and describe original research of new ideas, analyses, or scientific studies related to AI/XR and learning. The Research Network “Data Science @ Uni Vienna” invites applications for a doctoral position in the field of Machine Learning with applications for training load management in top-level sports We are looking for candidates with a strong background in statistics, particularly machine learning, good programming skills in R and/or Python and experience in visualization and visual data analysis. Candidates should have a master’s degree preferably in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science or related fields with strong quantitative orientation. We offer a pleasant work environment within a friendly, dynamic and international team, being placed in a city with the world-wide highest living quality. The candidate will work in the project “Artificial Intelligence in Rowing” (AIROW), a highly innovative and interdisciplinary project on the interface between statistics, computer science and sports sciences. This project will bring together methodological competence in data science with current developments in sport sciences as well as technological progress in wearables and medical diagnostics in order to optimize training load of top athletes in endurance sports, such as rowing, swimming, triathlon or running. We will collect and process „big data“ from training and performance processes of individual athletes and will use state-of-the-art machine learning technology in order to quantify the training workload, to predict the effect of training impulses and to optimize training management. Authors of accepted submissions will present their work in a dedicated session and registration will be free for PhD students who do not present any other papers during the conference. Submission<https://conf.researchr.org/track/iss-2022/doctoral-symposium#submission> Every submission should include: * an extended abstract - no more than six pages in pdf format according to ACM Master Article Submission Template, PhD Students should submit an extended abstract that describes: * the problem that the thesis aims to address; * the broad approach and how it builds upon and goes beyond key relevant previous work; * the work completed and the plan for the full dissertation work; * open questions/issues for discussion and/or what you want to get out of participating in the symposium. Completed work may be presented as an overview or highlighting a particularly important part in depth. Submissions should not be anonymized for review. We encourage authors of papers in all tracks submitted to ISS 2022 to apply to the DC. As ISS 2022 will be a hybrid conference, there will be opportunities to participate in the DC physically and in person.
