Dear Colleagues, Please find below the CFP for our “Visualization Meets AI” workshop, co-located with IEEE PacificVis 2026. We are pleased to announce that this year's workshop is partnering with the Information Visualization journal ( https://journals.sagepub.com/page/ivi/collections) to publish all accepted papers. ===WORKSHOP=== Visualization Meets AI Workshop, colocated with IEEE PacificVis 2026 https://vismeetsai.github.io/ Data visualization requires a thoughtful design process that heavily relies on both domain knowledge and familiarity with visualization techniques. Given the vast design space and inherent complexity, even experts often invest substantial effort to create effective visualizations for exploration or communication. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI)—particularly the rise of powerful foundation models such as large language models (LLMs), vision-language models (VLMs), and multimodal AI systems—the field of visualization is undergoing a significant transformation. These cutting-edge models present new opportunities to automate and augment the visualization process. For instance, LLMs can translate natural language queries into visual specifications, assist with data wrangling, and recommend appropriate visualization types. VLMs and multimodal models enable deeper data understanding and interaction by integrating textual, visual, and tabular information, further advancing the creation of intuitive and intelligent visualizations. Concurrently, visualization plays an increasingly vital role in the development and deployment of advanced AI models. As these models grow in complexity and scale, the need for effective visual interfaces and techniques becomes more pressing—to interpret model behavior, debug outputs, and foster transparency, accountability, and human-AI collaboration. This workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis 2026, aims to explore this dynamic and rapidly evolving area by fostering communication between the visualization and AI communities. Attendees will engage with the latest research at the intersection of AI-enhanced visualization (AI4VIS) and visualization-enhanced AI (VIS4AI), with a particular focus on how cutting-edge models—such as LLMs, VLMs, and beyond—are reshaping the landscape. ===CALL FOR PAPERS=== We welcome submissions in the form of full papers. We especially welcome posters that explore creativity through a critical lens, addressing its complex dimensions of agency, interfaces, and ethics. This track offers a valuable opportunity to obtain precious feedback from peers and experts in an engaging, informal setting. Submissions must describe original (though not yet fully completed) research. INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES AND DEMO PAPERS The interactive experiences and demo track is intended to provide a forum to showcase interactive installations, innovative implementations, systems, and technologies demonstrating new ideas about creativity, in relation to AVI themes and topics, and reaching out to novel communities. Interactive Experiences are expected primarily from musicians, designers, and artists. Demo submissions should be more technical, typically originating from Computer Engineering or Computer Science fields. Please notice that: The committee reserves the right to reject proposals whose hardware and/or space requirements cannot be met by organizers (if you have any doubt please contact the Interactive Experiences and Demo Chairs before submitting). The organizers cannot provide any specific equipment (e.g., sound or lighting systems). It has addressed the pragmatic and hedonic needs of heterogeneous groups of users up to the current challenge of self-actualization. Creativity is a core behavior that leads to the realization of a person’s full potential, and the explosion of generative AI presents both opportunities and challenges to human creativity. They address fundamental issues related to agencies, interfaces, and ethics. AVI 2026 will take place in San Servolo, a small island in Venice. This delicate and fragile ecosystem provides the ideal venue for reflecting, reframing, and speculating about creative solutions to more sustainable, inclusive, and rewarding technological futures. It promotes interdisciplinary collaboration by uniting specialists from diverse fields—such as computer science, mathematics, psychology, philosophy, history (including the histories of science and art), education research, and more—to share insights on both the theory and practical uses of diagrams. Diagrams 2026 will feature three dedicated special tracks: Main, Philosophy and Psychology and Education. Submissions whose primary research contribution aligns with these themes are encouraged to be directed to the relevant track, each overseen by its own program committee. Details of the theme and program committees will be provided in the call for each track. The conference program will include presentations of accepted papers, posters, and abstracts, as well as a graduate symposium, workshops, and tutorials. At least one author of every accepted submission is expected to attend the conference to present their work and engage with questions from participants. Multiple submissions are accepted. Long Papers, Short Papers, and Posters will be included in the conference proceedings.
