EuroVis 2026: Call for workshops https://eurovis.org.uk/workshops/ We solicit workshops related to all areas of visualization. These informal workshops in EuroVis provide a setting for participants to discuss advanced topics in visualization, involve experts in the field, disseminate work in progress, and promote new ideas. Workshops at EuroVis are open to all registered attendees (“invitation only” workshops will not be approved). Important Dates * Proposal Submission: Monday, September 29, 2025 * Notification: Monday, October 13, 2025 All deadlines are at 11:59 pm (23:59) AoE Anywhere on Earth (AoE<https://time.is/Anywhere_on_Earth>) Workshops should: * Emphasize emerging ideas, concepts, or technologies that are currently too nascent or too interdisciplinary for a full symposium; * Encourage information flow not solely from the presenters to the audience but rather engage the participation of all attendees, for example, through collective or small group discussions. Possible topics may include emerging or persisting problems, developing research agendas, networking to find common interests and possibilities for cooperation, interacting with domain experts involving analysis of their domain problems, etc. When choosing workshop topics to propose, please consider pre-approved workshops and try to avoid large overlaps: * EGPGV * EuroVA Note that workshops remain extremely well attended, but as new associated events and publication formats are introduced to EuroVis, the number of submitted papers may drop from previous years. So, a more interactive format (rather than one based mainly on presentations of submitted papers) is encouraged. Submission requirements Workshop proposals should include: * a title, * the contact details of the organizers, * a brief description of the organizers’ background, related publications, and research, * the planned activities (e.g., mainly talks, mainly interactive sessions, a mix), including an outline schedule for the program—workshops are strongly encouraged, though not required, to consider ways to engage all participants interactively, * the intended result and impact of the workshop, * a brief justification for why this workshop is necessary (e.g., why would the topic benefit from a more informal setting, in what ways is the topic emergent or a relatively poor fit for the main conference program, etc.), * a chosen measure for a successful CFP (e.g., number of submissions), possibly including an outline for a “backup policy” (e.g., changing the workshop format or voluntarily withdrawing the workshop before acceptance notification is sent, but should not require the workshop organizers to submit emergency papers to their own workshop), * a statement of the organization and the development of the list of participants (intended size, detailed selection procedures, and timeline for finalizing workshop presenters), * a list of any special technology needed, * the number of poster slots requested, if the workshop intends to feature posters, and * the proposed dates for the call for participation, author notification, and camera-ready deadlines (author notification must be before the early registration deadline for EuroVis; for inclusion of materials in the EG digital library and/or the downloadable proceedings, the camera-ready deadline must be 4 weeks prior to the conference). Because the number of workshop time slots is limited, half-day workshop proposals are strongly encouraged. However, well-justified full-day proposals will also be considered. Full-day proposals may optionally state what changes would be implemented to allow the workshop schedule to fit within a half day. If the proposed workshop is a follow-up of a previous workshop, please include a critical reflection of the prior workshop(s), including a discussion of the results and evidence of impact. The proposal should not exceed four pages. Evaluation criteria The workshops aim to include various topics and a healthy mix of new and recurring events. Repeat submissions will be partially judged by the previous workshop's success. Workshop success will be judged subjectively, but popularity, research impact, visibility, and attendee feedback will all be considered. Specifically, the workshop proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria: * The potential for inspiring people, being influential, and opening new lines of research, * The degree to which the workshop provides a more interactive environment for participants—all things being equal, preference will be given to workshops that emphasize participant interaction, * The coherence of the proposed topic and the degree to which it would benefit from a workshop environment, * The ability to attract people and make them excited about the workshop, * The appropriateness with respect to EuroVis topics, * If this workshop has special needs, the feasibility of the proposed plan, including financial, logistics, scheduling, and coordination impact, is also important. The workshop chairs will balance the proposed topics to support the diversity of topics within EuroVis and complement the main program. Organizers should consider what steps they will take to encourage diverse participants in their workshop (e.g., a balance of experience, background, gender, etc.) to make participation as inclusive as possible. If accepted, workshops are required to prepare a short summary (50–100 words) for the workshop website and the web program. Workshop Support The workshop organizers will receive the following support from the EuroVis conference: * One complimentary 1-day registration for an invited speaker, * Room and AV support suitable for around 50 attendees, * Food and beverages for attendees: coffee breaks throughout the day, Sunday evening opening reception, space in the poster display area, if requested (from a limited pool set aside for standard workshops; available space depends on the specifics of the venue; early requests given priority over late requests), * PCS (Precision Conference Solutions) support for managing submissions and the review process, * EuroGraphics Digital Library publication of the workshop proceedings, if requested (considered archival). The main venue of GD 2025 is the "Louis De Geer Concert & Congress” center that is located in the heart of Norrköping’s industrial landscape, offering a unique setting for the conference. A pre-conference PhD school is planned for September 22-23, 2025. Dear Academic friends, We’re pleased to announce the call for papers for the Input Visualization Workshop, co-located with the IEEE VIS Conference in Vienna, Austria, taking place from November 2 to 7. Input visualization — “visual representations that are designed to collect (and represent) new data rather than encode pre-existing datasets” — provides a new lens for direct interactions with data through visualizations and physicalizations. Greetings! The HDI group at the University of Maryland is conducting a study to assess data visualization experts’ perceptions of visualization design diversity. We are seeking out participants for an 80-minute study (no more than 2 hours). In the session, you will be required to review selected designs and answer questions to evaluate the designs according to predetermined criteria. This is an opportunity to be an active contributor to current and future research in data science and data visualization. We will collect your responses to the questions as well as some personal demographic data. Your participation is completely voluntary, and any data you share with us will be de-identified. If selected, you will be compensated with a $15 gift card for participating in this study. To participate, you must meet the following criteria: 1) Be over the age of 18 2) Have substantial experience using and creating visualizations. Graph Drawing and Network Visualization are motivated by applications for which it is crucial to visually analyze and interact with relational datasets. Application areas include data science, social sciences, web computing, information systems, life sciences, geography, business intelligence, information security, and software engineering. Graph Drawing has been the main annual conference in this area for more than 30 years. Its focus is on combinatorial and algorithmic aspects of graph drawing, their experimental evaluation, as well as the design of network visualization systems and interfaces. Researchers and practitioners working on any aspects of graph drawing and network visualization are invited to contribute papers and posters and to participate in the symposium as well as the graph drawing contest. GD 2025 will be held in Norrköping, Sweden, on September 24-26, 2025 with a reception on the evening of September 23. A preconference PhD school will take place September 22-23, 2025. GD 2025 is designed to be held on-site. It is expected that regular papers are presented on site by one of the authors. To address the global challenges and as an offer for authors who are unable to attend we allow for a limited number of remote presentations, as further explained below. The poster session will provide a forum for the communication of late-breaking research results (which may also appear elsewhere) to the GD community. Authors of posters should prepare an abstract that must be submitted together with the poster itself. Each submission will thus consist of two pdf files (the abstract and the poster). ================================================================ RULES FOR SUBMISSION Each poster must be presented at the conference by an author. The proceedings will be published in the LIPIcs <https://www.dagstuhl.de/en/publishing/series/details/lipics> series. To facilitate the process, submissions have to be prepared in accordance with the LIPIcs author instructions <https://submission.dagstuhl.de/series/details/LIPIcs#author>, the page provides links to the LIPIcs class file along with an example and detailed author instructions. For the submission, the use of the LaTeX class file gd-lipics-v2.cls <https://graphdrawing.github.io/gd2025/assets/template/gd-lipics-v2.cls> is requested. The class file is a wrapper around the standard LIPIcs class and implements line counting, see CG-linecount.pdf <https://www.computational-geometry.org/guidelines/linecount_2022_09_19.pdf> for details. Submissions must not exceed the following limits: - 80 lines for posters’ abstracts. The above limits do not include front matter (title, authors, and affiliations) and references. The class files provide line counting which should be accurate in most cases. Authors should avoid substantial amounts of text in unnumbered lines. In addition, the main content of the paper must not exceed the following page limits excluding references: - 3 pages for posters’ abstracts. For poster submissions, no appendix is expected. We also encourage authors to avoid "et al." in citations in favor of an equal mention of the surnames of all authors. For references with few authors, it is recommended to name all of them; if the number of authors is large, consider writing "(It is shown that) X [#]" or "The authors in [#] show that X" instead of "A et al. Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), generative AI, and other emerging technologies have led to a growing and evolving need for healthcare VA solutions. These technologies can be leveraged to enhance AI explainability and improve human data analysis through AI-driven reasoning. The VAHC Doctoral Consortium offers PhD candidates conducting research in visual analytics applied to healthcare challenges to discuss their research, and to receive feedback from experienced scholars and peers. We aim to connect promising doctoral candidates with senior mentors and peers for thesis guidance, domain-specific feedback, and community-building opportunities. The Visualization and Graphics Group at Utrecht University is conducting a scientific survey to better understand the challenges, frustrations, and needs of professionals and researchers in (knowledge) graph analytics. We encourage a diverse range of submissions and demonstrations from academia, healthcare organizations, and industry in any of the short paper types listed below: - Application/Research papers (format: “6+1”) - System Demonstration papers (format “2+1”) - Posters (format: “2+1” extended abstract and A0 poster) - **NEW FOR THIS YEAR** Grand Challenge (position) paper(format “2+1”) The 2025 Workshop on Visual Analytics (VA) in Healthcare (VAHC 2025) is the 16th annual workshop that provides an opportunity for participants to discuss state-of-the-art interactive visual data analysis techniques and review how such techniques can be applied to healthcare data. Moreover, recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), generative AI, and other emerging technologies have led to a growing and evolving need in healthcare VA. These technologies can be leveraged to enhance AI explainability and improve human data analysis through AI-driven reasoning. The primary objective of the workshop is to bring together leading VIS designers, VA researchers, medical experts, and visionaries to discuss: a) interactive data visualization techniques that can be applied to healthcare data, b) areas of healthcare that need more attention from visualization and visual data analysis, and c) emerging research trends, visualization techniques, software applications, benchmarks, and open datasets. The workshop will enable presenters to showcase their ongoing work through oral presentation and system demonstrations. In past years, both demonstrations of prototype and production visual analytics software have been particularly well received, and paper submitters are encouraged to submit a companion demo proposal. TOPICS AND SCOPE: ------------------ We welcome discussions on the use of VA approaches, interaction design, statistical methods, AI, explainable AI, and ML applied to healthcare data analysis. Participants may address the needs of various user groups, including (but not limited to) patients, clinical researchers, epidemiologists, public health analysts, physicians, hospital-based quality assurance officers, and insurance claim analysts. The 2025 Workshop on Visual Analytics in Healthcare will cover a range of topics on the design, implementation, deployment, evaluation, and abstraction of VA methods, including (but not limited to): - Applications of visual analytics to: - Clinical care - Multi-omic datasets - Patient-generated health data - Digital and mobile health, and digital twins - Patient- and consumer-related methods: - Understanding of patient/health consumer behavior and experience - Personalized healthcare and health management - Patient education, empowerment, and quality of life - Clinician-patient communication - VA-machine intelligence for healthcare data visualization - Human-centered AI for health decision-making - Human-AI collaboration and modern mixed initiatives - Equitable and ethical AI for healthcare analytics - Explainable and interpretable AI - Large-language model workflow integrations - Public health data - Epidemiology and disease surveillance - Health behavior and lifestyle studies - Health systems and policy evaluation - Longitudinal and genetic studies - Global health inequality and development tracking IDENTIFYING GRAND CHALLENGES --------------------------------------- After 15 years of VAHC workshops at both IEEE VIS and American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), several special journal issues, the founding of a formal VIS Working Group within the AMIA, and a substantial collection of papers, VAHC has helped lead the way toward advancing the use of visualization and VA within health domains. Yet, over the same time period, many forces have emerged to transform the health informatics ecosystem: a worldwide pandemic, the proliferation of mobile devices and sensors, the emergence of AI, and the rise of large population electronic health data resources, to name a few. At VAHC 2025, we will include a Grand Challenges session where we will work to integrate the expertise of present and past authors, panelists, audience, and committees to shape a common set of grand challenges for this field, in this era. To support this, we introduce a separate track for short position papers. We aim to collaboratively publish a Grand Challenges article using workshop outcomes to help guide future research. PAPER SUBMISSION AND FORMAT GUIDELINES: --------------------------------------- We will accept short papers with up to six pages plus one page of references (6+1). All submissions must be original work not under review at any other workshop, conference, or journal. The workshop will accept papers describing completed work (full paper) as well as work in progress (short paper). Two submission formats are accepted: a) 4 pages plus 1-page reference (short paper); or b) 8 pages plus up to 2-page reference (full paper). They must be encoded as PDF using the ACM Article Template of the main conference ACM Multimedia 2025, see https://acmmm2025.org/information-for-authors/. Peer Review and publication in ACM Digital Library. Paper submissions must conform with the “double-blind” review policy. All papers will be peer-reviewed by experts in the field; they will receive at least two reviews. Acceptance will be based on relevance to the workshop, scientific novelty, and technical quality.
