Sorry if you have received multiple copies of this email. =========================================================================== Call for Posters GD 2018 26th International Symposium on Graph Drawing and Network Visualization September 26-28, 2018 - Barcelona, Spain http://dccg.upc.edu/gd2018/ =========================================================================== Graph Drawing is concerned with the geometric representation of graphs and constitutes the algorithmic core of Network Visualization. Graph Drawing and Network Visualization are motivated by applications where it is crucial to visually analyze and interact with relational datasets. Examples of such application areas include data science, social sciences, web computing, information systems, biology, geography, business intelligence, information security, or software engineering. GD has been the main annual event in this area for more than 20 years. Its focus is on combinatorial and algorithmic aspects of graph drawing as well as the design of network visualization systems and interfaces. GD 2018 will take place September 26-28, 2018 at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. Researchers and practitioners working on any aspects of graph drawing and network visualization are invited to contribute posters and to participate in the symposium and the graph drawing contest. POSTER SUBMISSION INFORMATION ----------------------------- The submission of posters on graph drawing, network visualization, and related areas is solicited. The poster session will provide a forum for the communication of late-breaking research results (which may also appear elsewhere) to the GD community. Authors of posters should prepare an abstract (up to two pages in unmodified LNCS style---no times package is allowed) that must be submitted together with the poster. Abstracts of accepted posters will appear in the conference proceedings (two pages). The maximum size for a poster is A0 (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm). The posters must be in portrait mode. Each submission will then consist of two pdf files (the two-page abstract and the poster) and must include names, email addresses and contact information of the contributors. Contributions must be submitted via EasyChair at the web site https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=gd18 Each poster must be presented at the conference by an author (barring unforeseen circumstances), otherwise the abstract will not be included in the proceedings. Should any visa restriction prevent an author from attending the conference and presenting a poster, he/she will be given ways to participate via electronic means. *** ACM IUI 2019: Call for Papers *** Los Angeles, CA, USA March 17-20, 2019 http://iui.acm.org/2019/ ACM IUI 2019 is the 24rd annual meeting of the intelligent interfaces community and serves as a premier international forum for reporting outstanding research and development on intelligent user interfaces. ACM IUI is where the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) community meets the Artificial Intelligence (AI) community, with contributions from related fields such as psychology, behavioral science, cognitive science, computer graphics, design, the arts, and more. Our focus is to improve the interaction between humans and machines, by leveraging both HCI approaches and state-of-the art AI techniques from machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, knowledge representation and reasoning. ACM IUI welcomes contribution from all relevant arenas: academia, industry, government, and non-profit organizations. 15th IEEE Symposium on Visualization for Cyber Security (VizSec) Call for Papers ================================================================================ *** Deadline Extension *** *** http://vizsec.org/vizsec2018/#cfp *** VizSec brings together researchers and practitioners in information visualization and security to address the specific needs of the cyber security community through new and insightful visualization techniques. VizSec 2018 will be held in Berlin, Germany in conjunction with IEEE VIS on Monday October 22nd. VizSec solicits both full and short papers, both of which will be published in the proceedings that will be published by IEEE. VizSec also solicits posters. Authors of accepted papers and posters must guarantee that their papers and posters will be presented at the conference. Technical Papers ---------------- Full papers describing novel contributions in security visualization are solicited. Papers may present techniques, applications, theory, analysis, experiments, or evaluations. We encourage the submission of papers on technologies and methods that improve cyber security practices, including, but not limited to: - Situation awareness and/or understanding - Incident handling including triage, exploration, correlation, and response - Computer forensics - Recording and reporting results of investigations - Assisting proactive security configuration and deployment - Reverse engineering and malware analysis - Vulnerability management - Multiple data source analysis - Analyzing information requirements for computer network defense - Evaluation and/or user testing of VizSec systems - Criteria for assessing the effectiveness of cyber security visualizations (whether from a security goal perspective or a human factors perspective) - Modeling system and network behavior - Modeling attacker and defender behavior - Studying risk and impact of cyber attacks - Predicting future attacks or targets - Security metrics and education - Software security - Mobile application security - Social networking privacy and security When applicable, visualization and interaction techniques that effectively capture the insights of human analysts and/or allow analysts to collaborate efficiently are particularly desirable. Submissions including tests and evaluations of existing tools and techniques are also considered particularly desirable. If possible, making the data used for the tests available will also be considered positively. If you do not have real-world data to demonstrate your visualization, you may be interested in looking at the VizSec Data Sets page: http://vizsec.org/data/ Full Papers should be at most 8 pages including the bibliography and appendices. Short Papers ------------ Short papers describing practical applications of security visualization are solicited. We encourage the submission of papers discussing the introduction of cyber security visualizations into operational context, including, but not limited to: - Cases where visualization made positive contributions towards meeting operational needs - Gaps or negative outcomes from visualization deployments - Situations where visualization was not utilized, but could have had a positive impact - Lessons learned from operational engagements - Insights gained from the transition process Cyber security practitioners from industry, as well as the research community, are encouraged to submit case studies. Short papers should be at most 4 pages including the bibliography and appendices. Posters ------- Poster submissions may showcase late-breaking results, work in progress, preliminary results, or visual representations relevant to the VizSec community. The poster program will be a great opportunity for the authors to interact with the attendees and solicit feedback.
