When in-person user studies are not possible, we encourage authors to think about other ways to validate their contribution, such as qualitative studies with fewer users, expert reviews, online studies. We welcome paper submissions between 4 and 9 pages, not including references. Paper length should be commensurate with the importance of the contribution. Authors are encouraged to submit videos to aid the program committee in reviewing their submissions. Based on the level of contribution, reviewers will make an initial recommendation for one of the following outcomes for each submission: *Conditionally accept as IEEE TVCG paper.* Continuing our cooperation with the IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG), paper submissions with substantial contribution will automatically be considered for publication in a special issue of IEEE TVCG. *Conditionally accept as conference paper.* The remaining accepted papers will appear in the Proceedings of IEEE VR and be archived in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. *Recommend for major revision to IEEE TVCG.* Submissions that make a substantial contribution but that require revisions that are beyond what can be achieved within the conference reviewing process will be recommended for major revision to IEEE TVCG. Reviewer continuity will be attempted but not guaranteed. Note that as per IEEE TVCG rules a single major revision is possible. *Recommend as a 2-page poster.* If reviewers feel papers are not acceptable for the journal or conference tracks, reviewers may also recommend the papers for the poster proceedings. Work accepted as a poster may be eligible for future publication in other venues. Additionally, senior authors are encouraged to ask experienced junior authors to register in PCS to review papers, and then to mentor the junior authors during the review process. *Ethics and Responsibility.* All submissions describing research experiments with human participants must follow the appropriate ethical guidelines required by the authors’ institution, and authors are required to secure and report their approval by the relevant ethics committee. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published. A manuscript is considered to have been previously published if it has appeared in a peer-reviewed journal, magazine, book, or meeting proceedings that is reliably and permanently available afterward in print or electronic form to non-attendees, regardless of the language of that publication. A manuscript identical or substantially similar in content (in its entirety or in part) to one submitted to VR should not be simultaneously under consideration for another conference or journal during any part of the VR review process, from the submission deadline until notifications of decisions are emailed to authors. In some situations, a submission may build upon prior work. In order to fully explain the relationship between the submitted paper and prior work, authors may upload additional papers as well as a non-anonymous letter of explanation that highlights the significant changes or advances; these materials will only be seen by the primary reviewer. Specifically, this treatment is applied to the following cases: - non peer-reviewed works that are publicly available (on arXiv, as a technical report, etc.) - non-archival publications presented in past IEEE VR conferences (posters, demos, etc.) Submissions will be checked for plagiarism using IEEE Crosscheck. The advertised position (reference number: 2022/494-2.2.1) will be affiliated to the information visualization research group (ISOVIS) led by Professor Andreas Kerren (see http://cs.lnu.se/isovis/) The group is part of the national research infrastructure InfraVis and is with this advertisement recruiting a research engineer in information visualization for InfraVis. InfraVis (https://infravis.se) is a national research infrastructure in support of scientific advancement through the application of state-of-the-art data analysis and visualization techniques. The goals of InfraVis are to significantly improve data analysis support, address new challenges involving large and complex data and create competitive advantages for Swedish researchers. The infrastructure consists of visualization experts working with various software solutions and access to high-end visualization laboratories. Users of InfraVis will be offered assistance through a national helpdesk as well as in-depth projects addressing specific data and software challenges. InfraVis will also provide software solutions based on development in connected research groups, curation of international software and best practice, and user training in the form of courses, seminars, and on-line documentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for support and development in the visualization of data. The submission deadline for the VISAP Arts Program (VISAP) 2022 is extended to June 9, 2022. This gives you another week to finalize your submission(s)! The VIS Arts Program (VISAP) is a mini-conference and exhibition where visualization researchers, designers, and (media) artists come together to showcase and discuss works at the intersection of data visualization, art, and design. It is the biggest associated event in the IEEE VIS conference, and its main goal is to foster new thinking, discussion, and collaboration across and between fields of research and practice. The theme for VISAP’22 is “mingling spaces.” For 10 years the VIS Arts Program, and before this, the VIS Arts Show, have represented a mingling space, a space “to bring or mix together or with something else, usually without fundamental loss of identity” [Merriam-Webster]. VISAP’22 will take place in a hybrid format, and we will therefore experiment with different forms of mingling, attempting to bridge and mix not only disciplines, methodologies, and techniques but also the virtual and the physical, the immaterial and the material; people and artifacts online and offline, remote and on-site. In line with this experiment, we invite submissions that explore, re-interpret, speculate and reflect on the idea of mingling spaces. VISAP welcomes a wide range of submissions, including interactive artworks, design projects, novel visualization tools and applications, art-science or artist-in-lab projects, critical interpretations and evaluations of data visualizations, and philosophical meditations on the intersections between art and research. These can either be submitted to a paper track, or to an exhibition track.
